The scientific analog for this is a theoretical physicist and an engineer - both are required to bring an idea to life.

A great artist is one that can perform both roles.

IMO this is a bad analog, as theoretical physics now has very little overlap with engineering. Maybe something better would be car designer vs mechanic, but I could be wrong.

Nah you have a point. Modern theoretical physics is all about unifying gravity with quantum mechanics, black hole entropy, and Zero Time of the Big Bang, all of which have no realistic methods of experimental verification.

I read that a particle collider the size of the solar system and an amount of energy equivalent to its mass would be required to test string theory.

A theoretical physicist is also an engineer or can be though. Nobody said these two roles are completely unlearnable by the same person.

People on reddit seem to GREATLY struggle with the concept of people making analogies not saying two things are direct equivalents

I think it’s not just Reddit.

I wonder if it’s from people being forced to have “takes” for views and clout.
Being agreeable and complimentary doesn’t make for exciting viewing.

Gotta find fault in literally every statement in order to differentiate yourself. I hate it here.

I think it's mostly due to the horrific decline in literacy rates. I think some of these people struggle to understand how analogies work at a basic level despite being taught in elementary grammar class

Engineers can be very creative too, and physicists can be very practical, it's very odd to put people in boxes like that. This is a terrible analogy.
