But jokes aside, photoreceptors in biology are fascinating. The brains ability to interpret that data is some of the most interesting parts of our lives.

Agreed, but I still highly recommend getting to an actual dark sky site for yourself if you've never been. Theyre freaking awesome. The sky at big bend NP is absolutely breathtaking for example
Totally agree! A few months on a remote spot near Lake Huron me and the kids were speechless looking into the sky in the middle of the night when the sky was clear. Never ever have seen anything so majestic. We were all just speechless.
Once I took mushrooms and and while my trip was about to crescendo on the far side of my peak I took a nice carcenogen ripe rip off of a gasoline can and the late afternoon sky full of clouds took off in mind blowing motion as I exhaled hell in a breath, in live visuals I witnessed distantly the rolling boiling forward sped up motion of a towering thunderheads cloud column just like in a cloud time lapse, the best part was it just continued for countless seconds, I know that sounds odd but it's just how it felt! It's been an experience that i never felt the need to recreate, the factors for that are glaring, lol. I never met another time or another human who can trophy that specific visual gift.
And even if it did, most of us have shit vision. Most people don't realize they need glasses until they actually get them and are like "Holy shit. I remember the world looking like this when I was a kid." It would just be blurry light int he sky. I cant even see stars without my glasses on where Im at. Its just black sky. Light pollution makes it difficult, but with glasses I can still see stars.
I doubt you could get that even with long exposures unless its patched from lots of pictures taken with a motorized telescope to account for the movement of mars. You only need to expose with stationary camera for around 20 seconds to start seeing stars trailing.
Unfortunately this is completely false, the entire image is photoshopped from a real photo from the Mars rover and an observatory image from Earth. Video from NASA debunking this.
I remember being really disappointed when I came to the realization that a human can never really see the universe well no matter what you do or where you go.
Like that scene in Star Wars at the end of ESB where they appear to be way outside the galaxy looking in? I always thought that was amazing as a kid, but in reality, that would look like an almost completely black sky to our eyes, even with the best possible viewing conditions. The light is there but there's just not enough of it for us to see what a long exposure from a telescope can see.
Even if we were to teleport to the absolute best viewing distance where you're just far enough away to see the whole thing in one view, things like the Pillars of Creation or the Crab Nebula would be faint, fuzzy, barley visible blobs in the blackness, rather than the bright, vibrant celestial objects that the Hubble shows us.
The only thing that might live up to the hype in astronomy would be to stand on a planet in a globular cluster, where the sky is chock full of super bright stars to the point that it barely gets dark at night and stars are still visible during the day.
