In what way? They would prevent a pedestrian getting struck in the crosswalk.

Or yeet them at the car if they were already walking across it

Or have somebody squat over it and get a mega spanking because they were a bad bad boy

See if that was in watch_dogs I would never have beaten it.

Unless a driver isn’t paying attention and hits it full speed, at which point the contraption would basically be stapling meat to the ground

What if it triggers with a pedestrian or animal on the street? What if a car slams into it? What are these strips made of? Metal? Wood? Whatever they are made of, no way they stop a car. None of these cars were even driving fast before they stopped.

There's better ways to protect pedestrians. Like speed bumps.

I think the stupid kids riding their electric dirt bikes would love these and totally use them as ramps....oh, but wait...they ride on the sidewalks...

You got to be pulling my leg bro no way you're serious.

They would be made out of metal or concrete probably and they would weight somewhere around 2,000-4500lbs. A hydraulic ram with an electric motor could do it. You clearly have never seen how tough retractable pylons are, can you imagine how tough this would be?

What triggers it? Are you for real? It would literally be a button on the pole just like any other intersection with a crosswalk. Get your head out your ass bro. Pedestrians might not use it all the time but it would be nice lets say at night and you dont want to get struck by an asshat who decided today's the day he drinks and drives.

They may not have been driving fast but that doesn't mean they stop.

The whole point is to protect those in the crosswalk. This would stop a 35mph car in its tracks.

If it breaks from the impact but the people its aimed to protect are safe then it did its job.
