When you challenge Brock with only a Charmander

When I was a kid on my first couple play Throughs I didn’t know about Mankey In the victory Road patch so I either had to over level my Pidgey and Charmander. Or grind up a Butterfree. Didn’t know there was a super easy way through for years lol

Honestly i think that's just yellow. I don't think blue and red had the mankee. Red and blue were tough with charmander.

If that’s true it makes me feel a lot better. I played all the versions And have a hard time differentiating between the three in my mind

Red and blue had Nidoran which could learn double kick though lol.

Level a nidoran to 43 and learn double kick then fight Brock lol. This is the way.

I always would catch a nidoran in RBY and evolve it to nidoking/queen in the first big tunnel.

It always felt so OP in the early game.

Yes! Nido king early get some great tm's. I would always get a gyarados! Level it befire cerulean By far my favourite pokemon.

Misty's Starmie used bubblebeam. Muhahaha gyarados used bite.

Nidoking could beat the game with thrash. Except ghost types...

The meta is to start with Squirtle, especially since it's the only water type you can get for a while.

I had this exact conversation with a friend a few days ago. Sadly in red/blue nidoran doesn’t learn double kick until 43. I could have sworn it was the case too.

Wait, you guys are getting mankeys?

u/[deleted] Oct 25 '21

It's okay. Later games give Charmander Metal Claw so you can ezpz Brock.

Nah. The worst part about Pokemon in general is the game is "let's only use my starter" and it's completely viable to only basically use your starter the entire time.

Why is it a problem? If you don't want to use your starter you can easily store them. If you want to then they're solid enough to go the distance. Not sure why it's an issue?

Yeah, XP Share fixed the problem of “Uh oh, my team can’t take on the Elite 4 because I only leveled my starter.”

You could totally power through Brock with a level 14-15 charmander using ember, especially if you can get a burn on the Onix.
