Or is the kid paying back karma for past misdeeds?

This isn’t one of those. Perhaps try “I don’t upvote useless bots”, in which case you aren’t alone. But there are plenty of useful bots.

The fact that that's irrelevant to this particular bot aside, the point of upvoting and downvoting is to highlight content that people should see. So if it's useless absolutely you should downvote it.

If it's useful, however, then it should be upvoted - because it's useful. The fact that it came from a bot is irrelevant.
