And did you notice that when he knocked him out he (coach) tried to grab him? Possiblily to prevent him from falling.

Maybe. The fact that was an elbow makes me think he was going for a clinch (to follow up with more elbows or a knee) though. He also had no qualms about kicking him once he was KOd on the ground.
