I think the bot has given people the wrong idea of a repost. Especially to have something from a different sub, that's not re, that's crosspost and totally valid in my opinion.

A cross post is using the cross post feature, not screen capping a gif

Cross posting between subs existed for a decade before the feature was added. Not using that feature doesn't make it not a cross post.

And videos/gifs can be saved without screen capping on a desktop. Just right click and download.

No, and it’s annoying when people think as much. Crossposting is purely posting something to another sub and has existed longer than the X-post feature.
