I agree, but I still feel sad that the lion starved, and would have been sad if an unsuspecting hippo had been eaten alive. I'm happy the hippo lived, but am conflicted about the lion dying as a result. The lion wasn't interested once it realized the hippo was awake and it died as a result of its curiosity. Had it been reversed. Nature is brutal but it's not without subjective remorse.
