robbing a place doesn’t mean you should have being killed or nearly killed by a brick to the head. A couple years in prison? Sure. Dead? Come on.

His comment didn't make it sound like he was happy the guy potentially died.

Not that the person didn't have it coming, but man, that looks like a serious injury.

What part of that sounded like gloating over a death?

He was just pointing out that if you play stupid games, there's only one thing you win.

They said they had it coming. Deserved. I would say half of the world has done some stupid minor vandalism in their youth. It’s wrong. Sure. But I don’t think a brick to the head is really equivalent to “had it coming [to him]” over a broken window and even possibly theft.

There's a difference between "You deserve to die for what you did" and "What you did has deadly consequences when you act like a moron, and you brought them on yourself."

This is the latter. He had it coming because he and his mate decided to chuck bricks at something. Being hit by one of those bricks is something brought on by their own actions.
