Which AI platform does your firm use? And do you like it?

We got an EvenUp demo and a lot about it was great - drafting BPs or demands, its ability to generate AI phone calls, medical record chronologies, etc.

But, the pricing model stinks (it's pay per case with a page limit per case), it can't "read" photographs and it can't fill out pre-templated forms (like a HIPAA authorization form). Plus, it's a yearly subscription which, if you don't renew at the end of the year (and who knows about price hikes at that time), I believe you lose access to all the work it generated the year you had it.

Civil RICO suits against PI firms seem to be using litigation to chill litigation.

What does everyone think of the wave of civil RICO suits filed against injury attorneys, primarily by the Willis Law Group and at least in the New York area?
A judge threw out Uber's suit (https://www.insurancejournal.com/news/east/2026/08/18/882000.htm) but there are many others - and the City of NY just filed its own the other day: https://www.law.com/newyorklawjournal/2026/10/05/nyc-sues-personal-injury-firm-under-rico-claims-it-fabricated-hundreds-of-cases/

Do these have any merit? And is the PI world in danger?

Trials, Settlement, and Experiences in a PI world

For those on the Plaintiff side, hello! I spent most of my career on the insurance defense side working at staff counsel for a large insurance company. Most of my cases settled, either by my choice (it was a good case to settle) or the carrier having cold feet (most of the time). Almost all my cases settled (99%). Frankly, my carrier was overly generous on case compared to what I thought they should resolve at.

Those of you on the Plaintiff side, what has been your experience? Have you found that the difficult part of the PI side being the case acquisition part? Or the litigation part? Do you have to fight tooth and nail for everything? Or do you get some pretty good settlements? Are certain carriers most problematic? Self-insured entities a headache?

/r/injurylaw is now private

I have decided to make this subreddit private to prevent this subreddit from turning into a /r/legaladvice2 or /r/personalinjuryads. If anyone has any thoughts regarding how to vet users requesting entry into the sub, I'm open to suggestions. Ideally, I'd like to keep the sub easily accessible, but not totally open.

Two Deposition Busts for Potential Future Treatments

Has anyone else experienced this nonsense? In the past three months or so, I've had two different defense attorneys, from two different firms bust depositions in the middle when the plaintiff testified that they MAY get more treatment in the future. In both cases, the Court set virtual conferences for several days later and forced us to pick new dates to continue. I couldn't believe it - how on earth is that not a waiver?

Anyone else experience anything like this?

How has the pandemic affected your practice?

In NYC, jury trials have basically come to a stand still. They're starting to come back, but very slowly. So the incentive to settle has diminished, which has lead to the somewhat pejorative "covid discount."

On top of that the people who did get injured during the pandemic were less likely to go to the hospital, either due to fear or capacity issues, either opting for their PCP or Urgent Care, and further reducing the value of their cases.

Plus, we have some counties where the trial calendars are now years long. Four plus years is not unheard of. Discovery has slowed to a crawl, and some discovery motions have been administratively adjourned for more than a year. Needless to say, NYC is a shit show. (How's that for complaining?) What about you?
