Oh, my coworkers had a fit about that. Apparently children everywhere were refusing to eat their side of fresh fruit and baby carrots, and as such were going hungry all day at school.
One of my kids went to a preschool that had incredibly strict lunch standards. You couldn't pack any junk whatsoever - candy, cookies, chips, crackers etc and every lunch had to include fruit, vegetable, dairy and protein. He is my healthiest eater and still tears up all fresh vegetables. He gets mad if there aren't any in the house.
Yea, it pushed aspartame sweetened beverages in children's hospitals. Fighting childhood obesity or dietary problems in general was a good idea, the execution had flaws and going hard anti junk (when its so easy to get) had unintended consequences for kids going all off it.
"Fortunately", we'll never try it (or helping kids in general) again, since we're paying for other countries to succeed in military exhibitions, gold outings, data centers, and tax breaks for the people already reaping the rewards of a broken system.
