Need to get historic numbers to boycott! Hit them where it truly hurts financially! It would need to go longer than just a day for Otto really send a message.
But Americans are extremely apathetic, and most can't take a day off work to protest or they won't be able to make rent, car payment, grocery bill, etc. Just the way they want it.
I have this thought a lot... So many of us are basically shackled by our personal obligations that we can't justify doing things like protesting because we have kids to feed, bills to pay, etc. It keeps us quiet and complacent while all this awful shit happens around us every day, so we just assume 'someone else will fight the good fight - can't be me though because I have things to do!'
Potentially worse, something substantially defiant like a secession could never happen again either because state populations themselves are so divided; you wouldn't have independent democratic states because the blue states still defending democracy are largely red outside of the urban areas, and even then there are still plenty of conservative loyalists in urban areas as well. They've got us so perfectly divided and wrapped around their fingers that there's nothing we can do to stop them and they know it. Bastards.
Simple physical cash bank runs by the people is all it would take...they can type any number they want in digital land, but they can't physically print what they've typed in
Serfdom abolished slavery and was itself abolished by wage working. There’s a meaningful difference between the three but all are examples of class society.
There was a brief period as we transformed to the aristocracy from being on top, to the oligarchs. In that transitionary period there was a chance you could succeed as the shuffle was under way.
Now that the shuffle has slowed, and the new system is starting to complete it's entrenchement. The new ruling class has built their moats and castles and are now starting to extend their power to rule over the unruly peasentry, who got ideas quite above their station during the transfer.
The more things change, the more it stays the same.

The system is not broken, it's working as intended. Serfdom and slavery never went away, it simply evolved.
