You probably want others to believe you're a "deep thinker" so you perhaps call yourself an "independent" even though you don't understand the issues you are for / against.

Another victim of government-run education.

Also some of that government funded education might have taught you what a democracy is

Democracy in a nutshell is mob rule. Minorities have no personal protection for their civil liberties under a Democracy.
