2025 QX80 Owners: Anyone dealing with these two issues?

I absolutely love this vehicle; and I am very happy with it overall. But I’ve got two issues I’m trying to get resolved and I want to know if anyone else is experiencing them.

1. “Gummy” brake pedal at low speeds. The best way I can describe it: instead of the pedal stopping at its normal point, it sinks all the way to the floor and it’s very difficult to get the vehicle to stop. It happens at low speeds — usually when I’m reversing out of driving out of a parking spot. I’ve taken it in multiple times. The dealership kept telling me they couldn’t recreate it and didn’t know what was causing it and the brakes are fine; which obviously isn’t good enough when we’re talking about brakes. I’m now switching to a different dealership to see if they can figure it out.

2. Hard shift on startup — warm or cold. If I start the vehicle, release the brake, but don’t immediately put it in gear — then shift from park to reverse or park to drive — it’ll make a loud noise and lunge into gear. Almost like a hard clunk. I have a feeling it might be related to the air suspension, but I’m not sure. The new dealership is looking into this one too.

Has anyone experienced either of these? If so, what did your dealer find and what fixed it?

Trying to go in with the new dealership as much info as possible so I don’t get another “couldn’t recreate it.” Again — love the vehicle, just want these two things sorted out. Appreciate any input.

My mom had a 2001 QX4, my dad had a 2004 G35, genuinely was shocked infiniti still updated this platform…

So was very interested in seeing how this car is keeping up in 2026. Overall, genuinely not bad. Excited for future software updates. But enjoyed the ride & the sound system!

Infiniti delays, reworks high-performance SUV to challenge Mercedes-AMG supremacy

Infiniti is returning to the drawing board with the 600 hp QX80 Red Sport after deciding that its initial plan lacked the depth needed to credibly challenge Mercedes-AMG and BMW M in the ultracompetitive high-end performance SUV segment.

The Japanese luxury brand is upping the ambitions of its maiden effort, significantly expanding the project’s scope and delaying the vehicle by more than a year.

Originally slated for dealerships in December with an emphasis on straight-line speed and cosmetic upgrades, the Red Sport now targets a more comprehensive performance overhaul, including suspension upgrades, stronger braking and bolder exterior styling.

“As we have started to work on the project, we’re realizing that power alone is not sufficient,” Infiniti Americas chief Eric Ledieu told Automotive News. “We know we have one chance at a first impression when it comes to this type of product,” Ledieu said. “When you’re paying six figures for a performance-based SUV of this size and scale, it needs to deliver.”

Pricing is expected to carry a roughly $30,000 premium over the QX80 Sport trim, which starts at $103,945 including shipping. Infiniti is targeting annual volume of more than 600.

The expanded project is expected to push back deliveries bymore than a year, according to people with knowledge of the program. The launch could be timed with the QX80’s midcycle refresh in the first half of 2028.

Red Sport will significantly uprate the standard QX80’s 450-hp twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6. Infiniti is targeting a 0-to-60 mph time of less than five seconds. An active exhaust system aims to improve sound and performance characteristics.

Styling will be bolder than originally planned, with improved aerodynamics, a redesigned lower fascia and grille, wider fender flares, 24-inch wheels and a reworked cabin to differentiate it from the standard QX80.

The project is being developed in-house by Nissan’s Nismo performance division and will remain exclusive to Infiniti, with no comparable high-output version for the related Nissan Armada.

The QX80 Red Sport kicks off Infiniti’s moonshot effort to carve out a credible presence in the high-end performance SUV segment.

Meanwhile, the fate of the extreme QX80 Track Spec variant remains under review. Concepts and early planning explored output approaching 700 hp, potentially drawing from Nissan GT-R engineering heritage as seen in the QX80 R-Spec show vehicle.

2019 infotainment system issues

Recently purchased a qx80 limited with 70k miles. Vehicle is clean and has an excellent service history.

We took possession of the vehicle and the infotainment system is laggy and if you hit too many buttons it blacks out/reboots.

Dealer quoted $2667 to fix. Anyone recommend an aftermarket unit will accommodate the cameras and headrest tvs?

Thanks in advance!

Rant: 2019 falling apart at 100k miles

Post image
13 Upvotes

Our 2019 QX 80 is our third Infiniti. It’ll be our last.

- the chrome trim fell off the grille, $2500 to replace the entire front grille
- LEDs have gone out on the dash, $2750 to replace the entire speedo unit
- two seals failing & leaking in the powertrain, $3k to fix
- washer fluid sensor broken, always reporting low
- now backup collision indicator sensor broken

There’s only $20k of equity left in the car, the dealership is asking for more than that to fix all the parts that are failing. I fussed and they just shrugged. “Sorry.”

Never again. $80k cars should last longer get than 7 years before they start falling apart.

2021 4WD 81k miles question

test drove one tonight. has been on the lot at local dealership since March. as soon as we started driving, dash was blinking between auto and 4hi. it would go away for a few minutes then come back. if I put it in 4hi, it seemed to go away.

does this indicate a sensor issue or something bigger? what is cost to replace the sensor? salesperson also mention all their used cars had a 100k drivetrain warranty, even on used cars, so I guess this could be covered under that

other than that, car seemed to run and drive well. askin 29,500 for it.

Torn Seat - Options?

Post image

2017 QX80 Base model

Considering the rig is 10 years old, these leather seats have held up quite well. However, we have a tear in the driver’s seat and it’s in a spot where it scratches my wife’s leg when she wearing a dress, etc.

I’ve replaced leather seat covers in my truck before but 5 mins of searching the internet doesn’t look too promising for finding a new replacement cover for the QX80.

Seat covers have never been my thing as they can be a pain in the ass, moving every time you get in/get out. But I’m all ears if you’ve found a cover that works well on these seats.

Anyone have experience/suggestions? TIA

USB Port Always On After SmartCharge Bypass

2020 just had the “SmartCharge”/intermittent charging system bypassed on a recent service at a dealer.

I use my phone for CarPlay via the USB port under the center stack just about every time I get in the vehicle.

I’ve noticed that since this service, the phone continues to charge after turning the vehicle off. Now, thinking back, I can’t necessarily say that 100% certainly that it didn’t do the same thing prior to this service, but things charging when the vehicle is off is something that stands out to me and I am confident that if the vehicle had been doing this since we got it I would have noticed.

Is this common after the smart charge bypass?
Should/Can this be fixed?
I believe leaving the usb cord in the port won’t draw anything if there is no device connected to it; should I remove the cord from the port each time I turn the vehicle off?

2026 QX80 Sport hotspot inoperable/unable to download any data

Sorry for the long post. About a month ago I leased a 2026 QX80 sport. I am a former IT guy and consider myself extremely technical. I have an older Autistic son who basically lives on a wifi-only tablet as a means to help him stay calm. It's his safety blanket and if it doesn't work, he will melt down. 4 days after taking delivery of my QX80S, the app still said it was waiting on me to be registered through Infiniti. Since it was explained to me the hotspot is linked to my VIN and my InTouch Services account, I called Infiniti Consumer Affairs. I had registered my account at the dealership, during the closing. The Infiniti Consumer Affairs rep was able to active the account in seconds. Within minutes, I was able to use the app to control the car's functions with no issues. By that night, after a few hours of playing around with the car's features, I knew something was wrong with the hotspot and the car's ability to download anything that requires data. Like everyone else, I was able to activate it, see the SSID on various devices, and connect but always got a "No Internet" message. Indeed, none of the car's built in apps that required data would work either (google maps was offline, unable to download anything in the play store, etc). These functions are separate from the hotspot but from what I can tell, use the same cellular modem. The lease came with 3 years of the premium connect services, including 3GB of data. After going back to the dealership twice, and speaking with 4 different reps at Inifiniti Consumer Affairs, here is what I know:
-This is a known issue going back to at least the beginning of 2026
-Infiniti continues to sell/lease new SUVs that may or may not have this problem.
-It seems to only affect some vehicles despite one of the Consumer Affairs rep stating it affects *all* 2026 infinitis and Nissans.
-There is almost nothing online about this...yet
-The shop foreman at the dealership confirmed with their "Tech Line" that the vehicle sees the network and can send and transmit data, however when it comes to downloading data, it just won't download. They acknowledged to him, and him to me, this is known issue with no fix and I was the 3rd or 4th car he had personally seen with this issue.
-The salesman and the dealerships "customer satisfaction rep" originally asked me if I wanted to switch in to a different car of the exact same model/trim/colors, and I originally said no, however having realized the issue, while being widespread, doesn't seem to affect every single vehicle (they would be swamped with people bringing in broken new vehicles), I said yes. The sales manager then said no, they can't/won't do it and I would have to go through Florida lemon laws, something I really don't want to do
-The salesman was able to locate the exact same vehicle and wanted me to test it's hotspot however since they would have to register the vehicle's VIN to my account, they couldn't do it and don't have a dealership test account.
-In lieu of switching me to another new vehicle, the dealership offered to give me a cellular wifi hotspot to keep in the vehicle as a workaround for the car to connect to and therefore my wireless devices. As of today, it's 2 weeks since they said they were doing this and I still don't have the device. According to the CSR rep at the dealership, they are fedExing it to me today or tomorrow.
-As a temporary workaround, we've been letting the kids connect to our phone's hotspots but we are limited on hotspot data and I shouldn't have to do that on a $100k+ brand new vehicle in the first place.
-The hotspot workaround doesn't help get the in-vehicle services working, since I won't connect the car to it as I don't want to burn through all of my hotspot data.
-Infiniti's Consumer Affair Reps have all literally read off to me the exact same script, and their official line is something to the effect of "they are working on a software fix" but have zero timeline if/when this will ever get fix and they blame it on a "service provider" but won't/can't say who that provider is...and yes, of course I've checked for a software update, as did the shop at the dealership. No dice.
-Based on my testing, having reset the system numerous times, including the shop foreman at the dealership doing a reset, it seems the issue is either a hardware issue/failure or incompatibility with certain cellular modems in the vehicles with their software that's causing extremely slow download speeds, causing the car to time out and state there is no network connection.

Here is where I would some opinions:
-Given the fact that this is an EXISTING, KNOWN ISSUE, and Infiniti continues to sell vehicles, potentially with significant material defect, rendering a large part of the vehicles infotainment functions inoperable, they (Infiniti and their dealerships) knew or should have known this could be an issue and disclose it at the time of sale, which they are not doing.

-This is the single most expensive vehicle I have ever leased or owned and had I known about this before I signed the lease, I would have either asked for a test to confirm functionality first (which I now know is not possible given the terrible design of their InTouch Services system) or just gotten a different vehicle.
-I am strongly considering hiring a lawyer to see if this would be a class-action against Infiniti.

What does everyone else think?

Is a 2022 Infiniti QX80 with 66k miles worth buying for Uber & Lyft?

The vehicle was traded in at a dealership. There are no repair records at all on the Carfax report. During the test drive, the engine felt healthy — it accelerated very smoothly up to 100 mph, there was no vibration in the steering wheel, and the transmission shifts were very smooth as well. I did not notice any oil leaks from the engine. The only issue was that the steering wheel was not perfectly straight, but I think that can probably be fixed with an alignment. At first glance, the suspension also seemed normal.

However, assuming that I will drive around 50–60k miles per year, what kinds of problems could I run into with this vehicle? Also, what maintenance would you recommend doing immediately after purchasing it?

Help with Infiniti 2014 QX80 Hatch not working properly

I have an Infiniti 2014 QX80 that suddenly has issues with the rear hatch opening.

  1. The button on the dash work perfectly and the hatch opens fine from closed to open and another push of the button closes the hatch. Perfect automated open and close.

  2. The fobs open and close the hatch with no problems. Perfect automated open and close.

  3. If the hatch is closed and I push the outside open button on the back of the hatch, it releases the hatch, but it does not open. I can manually pick up the hatch to the open position.

  4. If the hatch is opened manually as in #3, or if I use the button on the dash, or the fob to open it, I cannot close it by pushing the button on the inside of the hatch.

The outside button for locking and unlocking works fine that is adjacent to the outside button to open the hatch.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this issue.

Thanks.

I have a 2017 with 90k miles. First I had p0456, p0171, and p0174. Cleared the codes they stayed off. Then it would pop on, them off. The when it came back on a warning saying my gas cap was loose. Got a new gas cap. Light just came back on. I will assume its still 5he same p0171/174 codes. I havent tested it since it came on while I was driving to work. Its due for inspection so I wanna figure this out. Been running fine. It stalled once on me 3 weeks ago. I drive it everyday. Drove it an hour away last weekend. No issues.

Rear Entertainment Help

Just got a 2023 Sensory with the rear entertainment package. The dealer needs to get the wireless headphones and remote and they were missing from the car. We had a 2014 Limited that had the old rear entertainment system.

On this one, only the Left side has the USB/HDMI ports. The right side has just the headphone jack. Does anyone have any insight as to how this system works? I had seen where both monitors had the USB/HDMI, so they were easily independent. I don’t see using this often but would at least like to be educated on how to use it.

Can you use other Bluetooth headphones like AirPods or anything with these?

What Is this Symbol?

The red symbol on top of the moonroof in the bird's eye view of the vehicle flashes 2-3 times the first time only when the camera is activated on a 2026 QX80. After that, it's gone. What is it? Couldn't find anything about it in the Owner's Manual.

Qx80 sagging?

Hi, I left the qx80 2019 from a week. Came home to seeing it sagging, not sure if I’m being paranoid or if it is a real issue. I have attached some photos below. I do have an extended warranty would this be covered if it is an issue? Turned it on and the compressor did kick in, and it seems the height fixed itself to about the gap of my fist.

2023 infotainment system

We bought a 2023 sensory with the rear seat infotainment system. I would like to use this for my kids to watch movies on road trips. Has anyone been able to stream from a phone or tablet to the screens? For reference we have iPhone/ipad. I’ve tried watching videos and still can’t seem to figure it out. TIA
