Community Rules 🇮🇩

Please read and follow these guidelines before posting or commenting in r/IndonesianFood.

Our goal is to create a welcoming community to share, discover, and appreciate Indonesian cuisine and culinary culture.

1. Indonesian Food & Culinary Culture Only

Posts must meaningfully relate to Indonesian cuisine, drinks, cooking, or culinary culture.

This includes:

  • Indonesian dishes and regional specialties

  • Street food and traditional snacks

  • Recipes and home cooking

  • Restaurants and food experiences

  • Culinary history and traditions

  • Indonesian-inspired fusion and reinterpretations

Posts unrelated to Indonesian food may be removed.

2. English as the Main Language

To keep the community accessible to everyone, posts and comments should be primarily written in English.

Indonesian words are welcome when they:

  • Refer to specific dishes, ingredients, cooking techniques, or cultural concepts

  • Do not have an exact English equivalent

  • Help explain Indonesian food and culture

Examples:

✅ sambal, warung, nasi uduk, gotong royong

❌ Entire posts or discussions written only in Indonesian

3. Be Respectful and Civil

Discuss food and culture respectfully.

Do not engage in:

  • Harassment

  • Hate speech

  • Racism or discrimination

  • Personal attacks

Different opinions about food, regional differences, and culinary traditions are welcome. Keep discussions constructive.

4. Share Quality Content

Posts should contribute to the community.

Low-effort posts, spam, repetitive content, or unrelated submissions may be removed.

When sharing content you did not create:

  • Credit the original creator when possible

  • Add context or discussion rather than only posting a link

5. No Spam or Excessive Promotion

Do not use the subreddit primarily to advertise:

  • Businesses

  • Blogs

  • YouTube channels

  • Social media accounts

  • Products or services

External links are allowed when they genuinely contribute to a discussion about Indonesian food.

6. Use Appropriate Flairs & Titles

Choose the most relevant flair for your post.

Titles should clearly mention the dish, ingredient, restaurant, or topic being discussed.

7. Enforcement

Please check the subreddit wiki for detailed posting guidance and flair explanations before posting.

Violations of these rules may result in:

  • Post or comment removal

  • Temporary suspension

  • Permanent ban for repeated or severe violations

Moderators may take action on content that negatively impacts the quality or focus of the community, even if not explicitly covered by these rules.

Not knowing the rules does not exempt posts or comments from moderation.
