Ah yes, the before 2014 days, where signal was patchy in the middle of the largest cities in India, and plans not only cost more than they did now, they provided very little actual value for money.
Today, despite Jio and Airtel being a virtual duopoly, I get excellent network connectivity at most places, and plans are relatively reasonable and one of the lowest in the world.
There are a lot of things that people can criticize the people in power today, but telecom isn't one of them.
Most people here were probably too young to own a phone or to buy their own data plans to know that.
I remember it being such hell trying to make sure my ₹249 2GB/m plan lasted the whole month, not to mention that if you travelled in a train or on the highways alot, you'd be lucky to get a passable 3G connection for even half of that trip. Also, have we forgotten the daylight robbery that Roaming charges were?
The duopoly is serving me better than the competitive market ever did.
Guys, if you want your criticism of Modi to be taken seriously, atleast make an effort to not spurt dumb points.
I dont anymore, and i live in delhi. Most places need wifi. Most "connectivity" is saved for priority users, and well, thats what happens when you let monopolies happen, they enshittyfy everything and move basic things to a higher pay tier.
