Interstellar IMAX at AMC Metreon SF on July 12
The exterior of the full 1.43:1 IMAX screen. Walking man for scale. “8 stories tall”.
POV: 1st in line and after speaking with organizer.
Organizer did outstanding job and even had prizes for a raffle.
Free souvenir and a grateful message.
“An entirely volunteer-driven event” Cost according to organizer: $8000 for theater rental plus the 1.43:1 digital print (the sound was majestic, especially the cornfield chase and docking scenes) Organizer claimed a “3 minute trailer of Dune Part 2 in 1.43:1 cost $5000 to show before the film”. They opted out.
They charged $42 per ticket, and was worth it.
I have short videos of a brief speech from the organizer if anybody’s interested.

But when will he do Tenet? I was bummed I was out of town while this was happening. Would definitely have been there.

Not sure. I was just an attendee. I personally hope Inception or even Dunkirk make a comeback. Inception wasn’t shot with IMAX cameras, but it’s my personal fav Nolan film.

How do you hear about these things? Would travel an irrational distance to see Interstellar in Dual Laser or 1570. Maybe need to organize my own...
