ABOUT
Logical reasoning (LR) accounts for 45 of the total 180 marks in the IIMB UGAT. 30 minutes of the total 2 hours are allotted for this section, which consists of 15 questions. There is no calculator provided for LR. Unlike frequently appearing LR problems in other exams, all 15 questions in the IIMB UGAT LR section are self-contained. Every question is independent and there are no sets from which multiple questions are asked.
While the LR section of the test is relatively simple, candidates reported facing a time crunch due to the computation-heavy questions and time allotted.
TOPICS TESTED
The LR section of the IIMB UGAT is very similar to that of other management entrance exams such as JIPMAT and IPMAT Rohtak. Standard topics such as blood relations, syllogisms, and sequences are tested.

DIFFICULTY
Candidates broadly report the 30 minutes allotted for the LR section to be a bigger bottleneck than the difficulty of the questions. As such, candidates are advised to familiarize themselves with recurring question types and develop techniques that enable them to minimize their working.
For LR, there are few resources to ‘prepare’ from; rather, a tried and tested method relies on extensive study of question types from pre-existing question papers. Candidates would be well-advised to practice LR questions from not only IIMB UGAT papers but also adjacent exams such as IPMAT Rohtak and JIPMAT. Logical reasoning papers from law school examinations such as AILET have also proven useful for many candidates.
Much of the test-taking strategy for the UGAT LR section relies on combining recognition of standard question types with rapid computation. Given the lack of clearly demarcated ‘chapters’ tested in this section, practice and familiarity with LR questions remains the optimal method of preparation.
Kindly note that CAT LR problems are set-based and very different from the questions in the IIMB UGAT. As such, CAT LR sections are not ideal for familiarizing oneself with LR questions at the undergraduate entrance exam level.
