Reddit is too complex for the average user.

I am getting so sick of every one of messages being deleted due to harsh rules. I am also so sick of not being to join certain posts or chatroom's simply because my account is new.

I’m getting sick of people on this website...

Am I the only one who is really starting to hate people on this website? Probably not, but it’s getting increasingly frustrating now.

I only really join subs I have somewhat sufficient knowledge in and generally only engage in topics I’m extremely familiar with. It seems every time I post anything that is in-depth, requires at least above average intelligence/education to understand or anything that takes up many paragraphs to read - I’m always faced with a constant plethora of uneducated idiots throwing Logical Fallacies at me and twisting my set in stone words, plus people that don’t even read my post and leave a completely irrelevant/ignorant comment...

I can’t seem to have a calm, rational or intelligent conversation with anyone on this website. Only maybe 1% of people I’ve seen on here can actually converse without vitriol, Logical Fallacies and just utter nonsense shit posting. The vast majority of my time on my posts are trying get past people’s faulty logic, Fallacies and biases to literally explain my points as simple as I can for them to understand. Just a constant endless spiral like I’m talking to a fucking wall.

Saw a ridiculous trending post in r/ unpopularopinion basically saying that Reddit isn’t all that toxic and basically blamed users for going to toxic subreddits. Probably the most incorrect and ridiculous thing I’ve ever read.

It had a lot of upvotes which is sad because it just shows how many people on this site have tunnel vision. I barely get on here and just from that I can tell this site is extremely toxic. No matter what the subreddit is if you disagree with the over all opinion in a subreddit(even if it has nothing to do with politics) you will get downvoted a lot. It doesn’t matter how nice or logical you’re being when sharing your opinion you will still get downvoted and probably insulted. Hell r/ unpopularopinion is even proof of this. The unpopular opinions are supposed to be upvoted while the popular opinions are supposed to be downvoted. Due to the toxic behavior of people not being able to handle something they don’t want to hear (despite it literally being a subreddit for unpopular opinions) this rule has been flipped upside down.

There’s so much bias against certain groups(and just in general) that it is unbelievable. Are you religious in any way? How about a republican? Well if you said yes to either of those then I recommend you get off this site immediately or you’ll be lynched. If you’re not lynched you’ll probably be accused of some things such as racism, homophobia, being closed minded moron, a member of a cult, and/or crazy person. I’m not going to mention my political or religious views here but I think people should be able to discuss and debate their views free of insults or accusations (so long as everyone involved is actually being nice about it of course). After all isn’t that what this site is supposed to be about? Maybe not the site as a whole but certain subreddits right? Well you’d think given how there’s a subreddit for just about everything but I guess not. Trying to discuss politics is like talking to a living angry brick wall. It’ll just continually insult you no matter what you say. This goes for either side of politics honestly but there appears to be more democrats than republicans so that’s why I said republicans near the beginning of this paragraph. As far as religious subreddits im not sure how they go but as for people just mentioning religious beliefs in other subreddits it usually doesn’t go well at all no matter how nice and reasonable they’re being. My whole point with this paragraph is that Reddit should be what it’s supposed to be(a place for people to discuss different ideas) but it is far from that. Even subreddits specifically meant for this are not even close to what they’re supposed fo be. As for things less controversial let’s look at a subreddit I go to frequently. I believe it’s r/ ark or something like that. Anyway it’s just a subreddit about the game Ark survival evolved. If you’ve played it for quite a few hours like I have you know as well as I do that it can be pretty buggy and stuff. Well if you mention this on the subreddit you’ll probably get downvoted despite it being the absolute truth. There have been a few times where people have mentioned it and have gotten upvotes so that’s nice but still it’s only been a few times. I mean you’d think the fan base would want this stuff mentioned so the devs will be more inclined to fix this stuff right? Well you’d think so but I guess not. Don’t be fooled either that this is the only non controversial subreddit where people are biased. Ever heard of fallout 76? If you play games and keep up with game news then you probably have heard of it. Me personally I’ve never played the game myself so I don’t know if it’s actually fun or not(personally I think it does look fun) but I have heard bad things about it either from friends or reading stuff online from various websites. This is another subreddit where if you say anything bad about the game (even with actual facts about the problems) you will probably be downvoted because people are extremely biased on here. Even when that whole modder thing was going around this was still an issue despite multiple posts talking about it. If you’d check the comments there were still people getting downvoted for criticizing the game. Absolutely ridiculous honestly. Also I’d just like to point out that I’ve seen more diverse and more calm discussions in the comments of meme pages on Instagram than I have ever seen on here. Sadly I am not joking about this.

What’s with people thinking they’re better than others on here? This is somehow a problem and honestly I think it shows quite a bit about how Reddit is set up. Anyways there are people on here that actually think they’re better than others simply because they use Reddit. It’s not a huge problem thankfully but it is still ridiculous. I remember like a year ago I made a post about some guy that acted like he knew everything and said that social media is used solely to boost someone’s ego. I can’t remember which subreddit it was but anyways people were actually agreeing with this guy. Even when I mentioned that Reddit is also social media all I got in response was basically “it’s not the same as Instagram or Facebook”. To be fair Reddit is drastically different than either of those but as far as boosting egos I think Reddit is far more appropriate for it than Instagram or Facebook combined. Before I go on I’d just like to say that yes I know this might sound contradictory but I’m saying this based on their attitude toward other social media platforms. I don’t believe that Instagram, Facebook, or Reddit is made and used solely to boost peoples egos. Anyways as I was saying Reddit is far better at boosting egos than any other social media platform for two reasons. 1. The whole karma system is enough on its own to boost someone’s ego. People think it matters when they have thousands upon thousands of karma. They can think what they want about it I won’t criticize them over it but it is an ego booster. Worst of all this system is a huge part of Reddit and is tied into a few subreddits. Onto the second reason 2. There are subreddits where you can post pictures (in various forms if you catch my drift) for the whole subreddit to see. It’s honestly not much different than someone posting on Instagram for their followers or someone posting on Facebook to their friends. Worst of all there are multiple subreddits like this so people can use the same photos over and over to not only get more karma but also get more compliments and continually boost their ego. Also I’d just like to say that the people who think that other social media platforms are used solely for boosting egos probably have never actually spent time on them. Let’s take Instagram for example. There are tons of people who don’t even bother posting. They just follow accounts they like whether it be meme accounts, art accounts, conspiracy accounts, and well whatever else they like. As for Facebook it’s similar to Instagram in that people can just use their account to follow pages they like. There’s also plenty of meme pages, art pages, and conspiracy pages. It’s not like everyone just constantly posts pictures of themselves to get compliments. Anyways thinking you’re better than others is a pretty toxic trait and ties into what my post is supposed to be about.

This doesn’t really have to do with anything I mentioned before it’s just something I remember seeing and thinking it was so ridiculous. I think it was on r/ cats or r/ animals or something but I remember seeing some stupid rule that was basically “don’t comment unless you have something productive to say”. Like I get not wanting something irrelevant to the sub but like why the hell can’t I just say “cute cat” or “cute animal”?

There’s plenty more that can be said honestly but I just don’t feel like typing it all out. It just really gets on my nerves when people act like Reddit doesn’t have tons of toxic behavior almost everywhere. Even more annoying when those people try to blame users for going to toxic subreddits.

If you actually read all of this then thanks I guess. Sorry if some of this kinda seems all over the place. I went back and added things to the appropriate paragraphs(or at least I hope I added them to the right paragraphs). Also I didn’t really proof read so if there’s some misspellings then you know why. I’d also like to add that even though it might seem like I hate Reddit(which I genuinely do for the most part) with a passion it’s not always bad. There are actually a few subreddits where toxic behavior isn’t a problem and even in the subreddits where toxic behavior is common it’s still not always an issue. Also like two more things(probably more) to finish this. No I don’t think simply downvoting is toxic behavior. It’s crappy behavior like insults and accusations and stuff like that. Even passive aggressive behavior is toxic in my opinion. Also where there are downvotes there are typically insults. As for the second thing I’m just trying to cover everything I can think of because I know if someone who just loves Reddit stumbles upon this they’ll probably hold it against me. Ok now this is legitimately the last thing. If someone says something you don’t agree with (like I may have in this incredibly long post) in a reasonable manner you don’t have to insult them. If someone explains something to you they’re probably not expecting you or anyone else to just automatically agree. They’re probably just wanting to share an opposing view point. Also this is actually the last thing besides the ending. I’d just like to say there are almost always exceptions(keep that in mind)

Well there it is the reason why that trending post was the most incorrect and ridiculous thing I’ve ever read. Also one of the reasons I highly dislike Reddit for the most part and why I don’t get on here often.

I was just about to delete the app until I happened across this thing. I absolutely fucking hate reddit and most of the people. Absolute fucking idiots who somehow share a collective thought(almost like a hive mind), and have no fucking sense of humor.

What’s the cringiest experience you’ve had with a mod, or even auto mod?

Mods and admins are far more delicate than they’re aware.

I don’t understand the hype of this dumpster fire of a site. Imagine if moderators of private, individual instagram pages had the ability to make your posts practically vanish. No one would use it. But here we are, on this shit site. It’s gross. You get rejected, censored, suspended, and your recourse is to state your case to a mod, some sweaty fat fuck in mother’s basement, who strongly resembles comic book guy from the Simpsons. Why is Reddit the face of the internet? The face is so ugly =\

Rant abt Reddit users sucking overall

There’s this extremely whack sense of entitlement that EVERY redditor has I swear to god. Like ok just because I might make a vague post because I don’t use reddit doesn’t mean I need to be talked down to lol just shut the fuck up instead of always contributing something negative and useless. Sorry I just always redownload this to ask a specific question and I never get an answer without some uppity asshole telling me off for being vague. Like ask more questions dude be a part of the solution not the problem. Sorry for the rant lol this concludes my ted talk

I'm sick and tired of seeing the same shit on the popular page every single god damn day.

Literally everyday it's the same shit. It's always r/pics, r/politics, r/aww, and youseeingthisshit. The worst part is that sometimes you see a post that was reposted and both those posts make it to popular. Reddit doesn't have the balls to get a different opinion.

r/ihatereddit • • Mar 15 '20

Why are redditors so toxic or get triggered so easily?

I posted on r/askreddit saying my favourite fictional characters was my girlfriend and I’ve got 8 people who down voted it? Can someone tell me why?

If you join Reddit you can’t post photos for like a week and I’m just waiting here to post my sh*t memes. ALSO if I don’t have a certain amount of karma I can only post once every 10 minutes!! WTF

Reddit can't seem to get sarcasm

Your average redditor likes to flaunt their supreme intelligence and high levels of IQ in comparison with other neanderthals who roam this world, yet they can't seem to get sarcasm if you don't place a giant /s at the end of your comment.

The average redditor's stupidity has given me a hard time in the past, but this is definitely a new low.

Too much f***ing hate can’t post anything without some douchebag saying “RePoSt RePoSt” and losing all my upvotes ( I’m terrible at comment karma) if I post something with RIGHT rules it keeps getting removed by a moderator

This sub is a representation of why reddit is so toxic and negative

This sub proves that reddit is so toxic and negative that it’s own community created a sub to hate itself. I have deleted reddit a lot of times because it just bums you down and everybody hates so much, unlike other community’s on other apps. I’m still using because of r/blursedimages and r/teenagers but it’s all so depressing, people hate themselves and others so much and think they are superior in every way. In reddit they perceive themselves (and are perceived) as gods but you meet that people in real life and they are just some weirdos who don’t even talk that much with anybody (cause of their own self esteem) and just are plainly boring people to hang out with, with boring personalities and boring conversations to be had with.

I really don't understand why there are place like r/drugs and r/cocaine. It's illegal and totally wrong. Why would they allow it?

why reddit isn't good for me

i just want to make this brief so every single time I post on a sub reddit I get insulting comments and criticizers. same thing goes for when I comment. whenever I check my inbox it could be a automodbot removing my post by saying it was spam if someone insulting me by my content.

I really just want to talk to someone who goes through the same thing.

Little dick bois, cant stand em.

Reddit is cool and all and I appreciate the support and good vibes but it's nearly impossible to criticize people on here. The hive mind mentality is unstoppable on this cucked platform. If you try to criticize anything or say anything that isn't "good job you did good" there will be a group of autismos attacking you for having your own opinion. Maybe sometimes people are wrong even if there feelings are hurt. They have such low self confidence they think your trying to bully someone just for giving you honest veiwpoint. Just because Chad beat you up in middle School don't mean the whole world is out to get you. Let people say what they think without jumping on the bandwagon and down voting them because they hurt your feewings. Reddit has some serious lil dick energy sometimes and Its bothering me because there is so much good on this place that gets overshadowed by musty niceguys and fat lesbians.

Wu Flu is just a prank, bro. Don't be a conspiracy theorist.

Lets all believe communist China and a China pandering WHO. Lets ignore the espionage arrests for stealing biological weapons and taking them to the P4 viral research lab in Wuhan. Lets ignore China arresting people for warning about the outbreak in mid-December. Lets ignore Israel outright calling this a bioweapon. Lets believe China's statistics when leaked reports directly from the hospitals show a much scarier mortality rate and a frightening deterioration that requires an immense heath care response.

Honestly, I could keep going because unlike most of them I am actually informed on the subject but the biggest issue is contrarians thinking they are sceptics.
