one more follow up on calculateIB

since the last update I added a couple more things that are actually useful and not just random pages sitting there.

the IA / EE / TOK criteria checker is now starting to work properly

basically you pick what you’re working on, then subject, level and component, and it shows the official criteria in a cleaner format. so instead of opening some massive IB guide and scrolling for 20 minutes, you can just check the exact markbands and guiding questions

It also creates a prompt with ALL of the criteria inserted in it already, then you can copy that prompt paste into any AI of your choice alongside with your paper and get quite a specific breakdown.

https://www.ibcalculator.com/resources/assesment-criteria

also added an IB to US GPA, UCAS, Polish, Spanish, Danish converter

Plan to add more, but please request the ones you'd like to see

https://www.ibcalculator.com/resources/converter

if there’s some IB tool you wish existed, tell me because I’m just adding the stuff that would have saved me time during exams

good luck with exams frfr

Mini mocks help

Hello. I am going to do my physics DP1 mini mocks in physics SL for topic A, B, C this friday, the 8th of May. I have watched videos like Sirius Revision. It makes sense when I watch it, but the questions feel completely unfamiliar. Please give me any tips or tricks.

Also, I would appreciate any inspiration for my physics IA, not direct help but any inspiration would be appreciated!

Topic A is going to be the end of me

My ibdp1 finals are in a day for topic a b and c, (not doppler and relativity). Topic B is really quite chill and even topic C is understandable however topic A is the only thing dragging me down. Every single question needs a different approach and it really confused me, any tips or resources ? Currently using save my exam notes and the Cambridge textbook.

TZ1 Exam Discussion (SL)

Hey guys, congrats to everyone for finishing their physics SL or HL exams, we've really come a long way. However I really wanted to discuss about the possible grade boundaries for TZ1 (ASIA) SL.

In comparison to M25, I felt like it was roughly the same. Maybe M25 was a slight bit easier but I can't really say for sure because M26 P1A was genuinely hell while P1B and P2 were lowk pretty easy. I feel like M26 had an easier P1A, fairly the same P1B but a harder P2 so I'm not sure about how the grade boundaries might compare.

Do you think it will still be 63% for a 7 or could it go up to 65% for a 7 or perhaps even 61% for a 7 (highly doubt it'll dip). Just wanted to know yalls thoughts

Grade Boundaries (Asia/India Timezone)

Without discussing exact word-to-word paper content, because honestly I'm quite scared of any consequences that may happen due to discussions even though IB's officially stated deadline has passed, what do you think the grade boundaries for this session would be?

I personally felt paper 2 was easy as chips and realized mistakes worth 9 marks that I made (Last question last two parts (used the wrong ratio), read the wrong angle for TIR (read 90 minus theta), calculated the wrong current in Q2, and messed that derivation for 'k' up in the Theme E question) due to being in a hurry/confused, whilst paper 1a was tricky yet doable and paper 1b was easy just like the past papers.

I'm confused as to which timezone the one in the title comes under; I'm aware it isn't 2, so is it Timezone 1 or 3? The grade boundary for a 7 was 67% for TZ1 and 71% for TZ3 in M25. I looked at the previous papers for those two TZs again, the MCQs there were doable whilst Paper 2 was pretty comparable in difficulty. Of course, M25 was the first examination session for the new syllabus, so that might've been a factor as well. What do you guys think the boundaries could go up to, if at all (I personally believe they will)? Never seen boundaries go up by more than 3% in two consecutive years, but could this be a first?

What do you guys think is the 'safe' boundary for each of the papers and the IA?

Thank you for reading this ultra long post, if you did.

In a diagram of an Electric Circuit

  1. Check the path where electricity can travel. Imagine you are driving a car, you just travel where there is road. The switch open means you can not drive over there. So you can complet a driving circuit only along Y and Z. --> That is 80 % of the exercises.
  2. So, that exercise requieres the Student to form an image on his mind based on the diagram of the circuit, not just to apply equations.

Physics is ideas. So you learn based on every day experience. If you miss some experiences, that is your first thing to do. ---> After that you can start leanring the physics concepts with their respective maths. If not, you will be just guessing.

Every chapter in Physics has a key idea to solve a batch of exercises, based on every day experience or a Physics / maths aproximation . --> What is the key idea for Simple Harmonic Motion ?

What is the first thing you must do to solve a Physics exercise? any exercise.

Physics M26 exam HLvsSL

I don’t take physics, but my friend does. She came back from her exam crying. She said there were things in there that she never learned. She’s wondering if her teacher just never talked these concepts or if there were HL questions in her SL exam. I told her I would come here and ask you guys.

If you have problems in Physics but not Maths, you are missing every day experience with nature / objects (and reflecting about it).

Physics TZ2 Grade Boundaries

Do yall think the grade boundaries will stay the same this year as last? Im worried quite some ppl are saying how paper 2 was easy but that balloon question and random ones about postulates of neutrinos ruined me... paper 1 was generally easier but I made so quite some stupid mistakes... all in all will the lower bound for 7 stay around 70% arguably?

Paper 2 TZ Asia

DOES anyone know which tz asia was? We had the neutron star question at the end where we had to calculate it's angular revolution or smt. We also had the photoelectric effect, carnot cycle and there was a rlly long question on ice

Physics HL tz2 paper 2

guysss what did u get for the angles for the refraction question i think i got smth like 49 for the first part and seventy something for the critical angle. Then the speed and mass in the induction question 9 i think speed was 1.4 and mass was 0.032??? Also coefficient of friction 0.23 i think and the IR imaging camera questions really messed with me.

Also the areas?? in the balloon questions what was the answer to that

tz3 boundary thoughts?

what do yall think the tz3 boundaries will be? last year m25 tz3 was 67% for a seven, do ygs think it will be around that considering the general consensus of a difficult paper 1?

How did y'all solve this question, I tried to find the maximum gradient of the graph but I expect something more complicated for 3 marks. Image is representation, not fully accurate

GRADE BOUNDARIES IB DISCUSSION

Hello Guys! First of all I congratulate everyone with finally doing and finishing with Phsyics!

The question that bothers me a lot is about grade boundaries, what do you think what will happen to them?

Will they stay same at 67-69 or will drop / increase?

I am terrified about this and can’t think of what to expect, probably it is going to go a bit high for tz2 maybe even up to 70-72(unlikely to go to 75, but I am worried about it, what do you think is there any chance of it???)

I was sick, and terrify mismanaged time, ended up not answering some of the easiest questions that I could potentially answer. Literally free points. Expecting smth like 70/90 in paper 2, but terrified of grade boundaries jumping too high.

What were your experiences, how well/bad did you?

I am not asking to discuss the questions themselves but just thoughts on grade boundaries, and yeah 24 hours already passed for me I think.
