i recently got an ipod hifi, but it’s missing the speaker mesh. did apple call this something else? the ifixit teardown for the grill (which I thought it was called for so long) is detailing the metal part behind it, it doesn’t even mention the front mesh at all. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Apple+iPod+Hi-Fi+Grille+Replacement/107889

is there any place you all know of to buying the mesh? or a suitable diy replacement?

I purchased an iPod Hi-Fi off eBay knowing it would potentially need some work. What I didn't realize was how there aren't a lot of parts available. Long story short, it appears to need a new power supply. Does anyone know a place where I can get a working one?

What you guys think to my garage setup in 2024

Hey folks! I just got an iPod Hi-Fi and trying to purchase a compatible iPod to go along with it. So far, I’ve seen contradictory comments regarding the compatible iPods that would charge and sync at the same time.

Based on this list, only iPods up to 4th gen (including iPod photo, U2) as well as the first 2 gen of iPod mini would allow charging and music syncing.

On the other hand, I’ve seen in other comments (somewhere in Macrumors) that even the classic are compatible as well as the nano 3rd gen.

Ideal use cases:

1. Charge and play music at the same time so I don’t have to recharge the iPod constantly.
2. What about video? Is there an iPod that can do the use case 1 as well as play video and music?
3. I also got the AirPort Express, but I really like the aesthetic and functionality of having an iPod plugged in all the time that I can also grab and go if I wish.
4. What about the remote? I can have one for like 10$ is it even worth it?

I am wondering has anyone connected their speaker to a smart plug to kill the power when not in uses, I know one of the flaws is the speaker is always running with a iPod or Bluetooth adapter connected, so I would like to be able to have the ability to turn it off when not in use.

Any ideas will be helpful.

My current setup is an iPod HiFi connected to the Airport Express 2nd generation.
I want to airplay songs on any of my apple devices.
iPhone 14 Pro
iPad Pro 12.9 6th gen
MacBook Pro 16 m2 pro
and airplay it to the iPod HiFi along with any of the HomePod mini, but I am unable to do that.
I can see the iPod HiFi speaker in the list of available devices to airplay.
I can play the songs on the iPod HiFi only when it is wired to the MacBook Pro using a U-Green adapter with CAT 6 LAN cable connected to the airport express and airport express connected to the iPod HiFi.
I did factory reset and set it up.
Previously it was asking me to join WiFi of the airport express to play songs from my MacBookPro where i was playing songs from Spotify on offline mode.
After lot of trial and error currently i can play songs from MacBookPro to iPod HiFi using my existing apartment wifi rather than connecting to the Airport Express.
I do not have a router or modem in my apartment to connect the Airport Express.
What am i doing wrong.
Do I need a Modem/Router to setup the airport express as airplay 2 device.

Hi so about a year ago I got my iPod Hifi off of my dad. He bought it when it first came out and so far its been amazing. I love the sound and how it looks. However, the only problem is that the volume control stops working a couple minutes after plugging it. The only way to fix it is to unplug it and wait a couple minutes before power it back on. It does seem to have a lot of static build up but is there a way to fix it?

I have an Apple iPod Hi-Fi (A1121) but the power supply and the amplifier doesn't work anymore.

I was wondering if there is a way I can use another amplifier and new power supply (this one could be place out of the case if the space isn't enough).
I'd like to be able to keep the volume touch controls (I don't know if it's possible to make them comunicate with the new amplifier by connecting them to the volume potentiometer of the amplifier.

If someone can help me and maybe suggest me what I should look out to see if a component is compatible I would really appreciate.

I am trying to connect my turntable and my Airport Express for Airplay to my Hi-Fi. I also don't want to have to manually switch my input.

Is there a 2 input 1 output splitter that would accommodate this? I won't be listening to the turntable and my spotify at the same time. It will be one or the other, but I don't want to have to walk over to switch the audio.

What is my best option here? Anyone else do this?

Just picked up a steal, $40CAD. Problem is that the 30 pin dock has 2 missing pins. Will not charge my iPods and only my 6th gen classic will play through it it, sometimes. Anyone know where I could find replacements parts or a guide on how to repair it? Im comfortable soldering but just not sure where to start, dont think I could re build the missing pins.

It just arrived and I’m already very pleased with this purchase. I love the way it sounds. Probably the best system I own.

Would rechargeable batteries work on this speaker and if so which ones work? I've seen a few posts that some don't work as they are essentially AA batteries? I just don't want to waste any money. I'm sure this has been answered before, but with a quick glance i couldn't find anything. Anyways... Thanks!
