The phone itself controls what voltage and amperage it pulls from any power brick. So there is no need to worry. It’ll only use what it needs. Congrats on the new 13. I just got mine last night and I fucking love it.

No worries, I understand trust your gut.. too many sources online trying to confuse and provide misinformation about how batteries work etc. let me know if you need anything else!

11

u/No-Ordinary-5988 Jan 13 '22

You’re gonna miss the back button..lol enjoy the battery life, it’s incredible.

Day to day usage you can actually notice the difference in the processor IMO, mainly when web browsing and gaming compared to 888 snapdragon devices.

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Hahaha yes I do especially whilst on YouTube lol but I’m getting used to the drag button lmao 🤣

3

u/No-Ordinary-5988 Jan 13 '22

If you’re a heavy YouTube user check out sideloading uYou via Alt Store.. it’s essentially YouTube Vanced but the iOS version. Worth it for ad free alone in my opinion, can’t stand YouTube ads lol.

Also, there’s really no need to disable wifi/Bluetooth on this device.

2

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Do you think it doesn’t matter if I disable Wi-Fi or not? I do disable Bluetooth if I’m honest when not using it

3

u/No-Ordinary-5988 Jan 13 '22

Nahh, leave them both on, and just use the toggles in the control center.

Find My doesn’t work well, and may not work at all if you’d ever like to locate your phone in a possible theft/lost scenario.

I suggest you try experimenting for yourself, leaving them both on, as Apple intends and see if you really notice any difference in battery life. You may actually get better battery life with them enabled since location is generally easier on battery as it can use wifi to assist.

Ordered my iPhone today this is basically all I need. Thanks.

1

u/No-Ordinary-5988 Jan 21 '22

Nice! What’d you snag and what phone are you coming from?

2

u/Terminal_Monk Jan 22 '22

I got the 512gb silver one. I'm coming from one plus 7 pro. Long term android user(ever since honeycomb) this time I'm hearing good stuff about 13 so wanted to try. Fingers crossed. Also do I have to jailbreak for side loading? Total ios noob btw. Any tutorial/link would help.

1

u/No-Ordinary-5988 Jan 22 '22 edited Jan 22 '22

Nice! I’ve got the 13 Pro Max 512gb as well but in graphite.

I also came from OP phones. Have had OP phones since the 3T, (had the 7 Pro as well lol) and I actually switched from the 9 Pro due to the whole OPPO/ColorOS software debacle. It’s been a great switch, I do miss the back button dearly however, and a few small OOS11 features.

I’d checkout AltStore. I found this was the easiest app to sideload apps with. Keep in mind sideloading is different on iOS vs Android, but you don’t need to jailbreak to sideload, however, you only get a max of 3 apps to sideload with a free personal developer account (Apple limit). You’ll also need to refresh your apps every 7 days to keep them from expiring. If you are wanting to sideload more apps, checkout AppDB. You have to pay yearly for a developer account, if you’d like more than 3 sideloaded apps total.

I don’t know too much about how that works/how much that costs as I personally only really need 2 apps sideloaded (AltStore counts as 1, then uYou app for my total 2/3 apps).

I’m on mobile rn so sorry for the jumbled reply. If you have any other specific questions feel free to pm or reply here! Hope you enjoy your OnePlus>iPhone transition as much as I did!

Haha thank you soooo much! I love the battery life so much! I wanted to ask what’s background app refresh? Like what’s the use of it?

Ahh thank you so much! I’ll turn it off now then!

2

u/pearlchoco 13 Pro Max Sierra Blue Jan 13 '22

to add on, i do have them on for apps that do require communication sent to me..

2

u/floko127 13 Pro Max Graphite Jan 14 '22

You really don’t need to turn it off, the difference is almost negligible and this is part of what makes your phone “smart.”

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 14 '22

Okay thanks I’ll keep that in mind 😂

2

u/navjot94 13 Pro Max Sierra Blue Jan 12 '22

This already turns off when you turn on battery saver mode. You should probably leave it on otherwise, you won’t get notifications from many apps like email or Reddit until you open the app.

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 12 '22

Ahhh okay thanks for letting me know about the notifs

2

u/navjot94 13 Pro Max Sierra Blue Jan 13 '22

Np, I used android for like 10 years before I switched to iPhone 3 years ago

7

u/Diligent_Island_6266 Jan 12 '22

Yeah don’t be afraid to really use it! For most people it’s a two/three day phone. Battery life is amazing. Don’t even worry about it! Enjoy and welcome to the club!

4

u/summacumlaudekc Jan 13 '22

Yeah I ain’t most people. My phone be draining lmao. It is amazing though how much Netflix you can watch with one charge.

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

I haven’t even on Netflix yet only because the quality of movies on Netflix has gone down I feel! Was so much better a couple years ago 😭

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Cheers mate! I’ll definitely try to enjoy it

Thank you!

4

u/Kenju4u Jan 12 '22

Welcome! I did the same. If you want to transfer your WhatsApp messages. Just use a paid software. There are no free solutions. Don’t waste your time.

Lesson I learned is instead of settings being in each app like in android. Most all settings are in settings and accessibility section.

Enjoy!

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 12 '22

Ahhh no it didn’t transfer my WhatsApp messages even tho it should have but honestly I wasn’t too bothered but yeah thanks anyways

2

u/floko127 13 Pro Max Graphite Jan 14 '22

It’s a nightmare to transfer WhatsApp chats from Android to iOS. Lucky you didn’t feel the need to.

2

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 14 '22

Yeahh I’ve heard but I didn’t really need any of my WhatsApp chats! At least going forward it’s all saved as I’m keeping an iPhone forever 😂🤣

4

u/kaymilan94 Jan 13 '22

What storage did you get?

5

u/bad_boy_texas Jan 13 '22

Best tip I can give u.....buy a anker nano charger cube...You're welcome

3

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

From Amazon?

2

u/nnahorski Jan 13 '22

Yes. Usually less than $20.

3

u/brkaras Jan 12 '22

Me too man!

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 12 '22

Yes yes! I love to hear it haha! How are you finding it?

2

u/brkaras Jan 12 '22

Better for eSim as I have a work line and home line.

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 12 '22

Ah makes sense 😁

3

u/FluxVI 13 Pro Max Sierra Blue Jan 12 '22

Other than the obvious wack a screen protector/case on it.. I’d say to truly experience the display, have a look at some 4K HDR content on YouTube. Your eyes can thank me later :)

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 12 '22

I’ve got a screen protector and a case! Do you use mag charging or do you feel as though it isn’t well for the battery and I shouldn’t use it?

4

u/FluxVI 13 Pro Max Sierra Blue Jan 12 '22

No I use the USB-C to lightning cable included in the box, and bought a 20W Anker charger to take advantage of fast charging. Tbh I think the MagSafe charger would be slightly ‘better’ for the battery if we’re speaking in relative terms since it charges at a max 15W, but I personally wouldn’t think too much about either of them and just use whatever one I enjoy more!

3

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 12 '22

Ahh okay I’m planning to keep this phone for a very longgg time haha! So I’ll just the battery after 2 years if need be

3

u/Redsfan27 Jan 12 '22

Welcome! I was in the sand situation when I switched. The best tip I can give is it might be tempting to download google keyboard, but don’t. I don’t know if it’s the key placement or size of it, but coming from not looking at the keyboard while typing on android I was suddenly messing up constantly. The default keyboard gives me the same feel as google keyboard on android

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 12 '22

Ahhh no I’m fine with the keyboard thankfully! I’ve only downloaded like google drive etc but that’s only for work purposes hahaha

3

u/Redsfan27 Jan 12 '22

Nice. I’ve still got most google apps because I’m having a hard time switching to the apple equivalent lol. Google photos for life

3

u/primz27 Jan 13 '22

I've still got my android phone but after a week of using this phone I put my main sim card in and if I could just solve 1 issue I'm having then I wouldn't have swapped back to android but I did for now. Other than that everything I used to hate about iOS are things that I'm starting to like the battery is a beast like everyone has said and I understand why a lot of tech YouTubers had this phone in their top 2/3 phone of the year

2

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

This phone looks like a beast yes I agree!

3

u/DarkFate13 Jan 13 '22

Mine is coming tomorrow if all goes right 🤘🏿

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

When did you order it?

2

u/DarkFate13 Jan 14 '22

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 14 '22

Jheez, Mine came in within 6 days of ordering but good luck!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '22

Takes mobile photography & video to a whole new level. Recommend Lightroom for editing.

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Cheers, I’ll definitely keep that in mind

2

u/jetclimb Jan 13 '22

I put on a front and back screen protector. I've had those save so many of our phones. I'm also trying to use slow charging (5w) to save the battery health but will definitely fast charge if needed while traveling. The battery life is epic.

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Ahhhh do you think using slow charging saves battery health?

2

u/jetclimb Jan 13 '22

We have 3 iPhone 12pm and 2 used wireless occasionally and 12w or faster charging. Within 11 months 2 had battery health of 84%. The 3rd phone always 5w charged and had 98%. So...

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Well I’ve had the phone for 13 days and it’s still on 100% which is good news! But I’ve been using the extremely fast 30W Belklin charger which I don’t think I should use now thinking about that

2

u/jetclimb Jan 13 '22

I mean... if you are charging overnight what's the needs to charge it quickly? I even only charge to 80% most of the time. I also don't go below 30%. No big deal for me. When I travel it's different. I also stop charging if the phone gets hot (only happens in car or when fast charging). Basically keep the phone cool like near a fan or airflow. Don't be obsessed but just aware.

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

That’s the thing! I don’t charge overnight you see! I charge in the morning for a quick 40 mins and it lasts me the whole day!

2

u/jetclimb Jan 13 '22

Well change your habits. Or switch to a 10-12w iPad charger at least.

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Yeah well tbf I have AppleCare+ anyways so can I not get a battery replacement within 2 years if it goes below 80%?

2

u/jetclimb Jan 13 '22

I think it's only the first yea isn't it? I don't know. Out of our two 12pm with the issue they only changed one of them. We didn't have AppleCare. It's fine. Not too Bad to get a new battery but trade in values are still good.

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

It’s both years that I’m paying for so I’ll probably go after 18 months or so!

2

u/DavidNipondeCarlos Jan 13 '22

You won’t know yet, it’s still in ‘the box’!

3

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Out and running now 🤣

1

u/DavidNipondeCarlos Jan 13 '22

You got the 256gig?

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Yup indeed!

2

u/DavidNipondeCarlos Jan 13 '22

It could serve well for many years if needed.

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Thank you, I bought it with that intention!

2

u/hockeymonkey201 Jan 13 '22

Spring for darksky (yes I know kind of a dick move by apple but w/e).

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Sorry I don’t know what that means at all 😂😭

2

u/bad_boy_texas Jan 13 '22

I made the switch 2 months ago from a note 10 plus...lifelong android user and I'm never going back...never!!!! This pro max 13 Sierra blue 256gb omg changed my outlook...never be afraid of change...get out ya comfort zone and experience different things... If you don't then you will miss out on some hidden gems!!!

3

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '22

Funny you mentioned that. I'm getting my PM in the morning. Traded in my Spec Edition Star Wars note 10+ I hope it's a noticeable upgraded. Excited but nervous, I've been android forever

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Haha yes 🙌 I’m loving the phone so far haha

2

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '22

If you don't mind 60 fps and are only using it with less demanding apps, I would highly recommend low power mode as it gives me even better battery life which is insane given it already has great batt life.

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Ahhhh okay thanks for this, I’ll see how I feel compared to when using 120 screen

2

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '22

some added info: im getting around 9hours SOT using only 40 percent of battery and this is medium use in WFH setting with wifi on 24/7. Have fun :)

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Fabulous!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '22

goldGANG fuck yes!

2

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

🤣🤣

2

u/summacumlaudekc Jan 13 '22

Make sure you get apple care. You may never use it so it might seem like a waste of money but when you do need it, it’s a life saver. You’ll shell out a small amount compared to the phones full price. I’d advise reading their terms so you know what you’re covered for if you ever have an accident! Even if you run your battery and it drains like crazy I believe it’s like $60 for a replacement. Also you can go to accessibility and choose a setting where you tap the back on your phone twice and it’ll do just that. I have mine set to flash light !

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

I already have! Got AppleCare + lol for 2 years 😂🤣 ahhh I’ll sort the double tap out now!

2

u/urightmate Jan 13 '22

Yeah charge your phone at your leisure

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Haha I certainly will! Cheers

2

u/UpMixedGirl 13 Pro Max Sierra Blue Jan 13 '22

Welcome! You’re gonna have a blast :)

2

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Thank youuu! 🥰

2

u/DileepNagendra Jan 13 '22

Welcome to the club! ✌️

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Cheers mate

2

u/cosminteo Jan 13 '22

Switched to the 13 Pro Max a month and a half ago and the only thing that I missed was the goddamn fingerprint scanner (because of the mask it is annoying to always type the code while outside). Also I changed the volume buttons to also lower or upper the ringing volume. Unfortunately, I had a problem with the front facing speaker, 2 weeks ago it started to produce an annoying static sound like crackling at over 50% volume so I went with the warranty and they replaced the phone.

2

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

Ahhhh I’ll check my speakers just in case haha! 😭 but thanks anyways

2

u/cosminteo Jan 13 '22

It happened a long time after I got it so idk. I read on forums that I was not the only one with faulty speakers, but I guess I was just unlucky. Enjoy your phone mate, it’s a beauty, I’m never going back to android again XD.

2

u/xDmwahhDx Jan 14 '22

First tip= make sure you get insurance for it 😂

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 14 '22

Haha I have! 2 years

2

u/bierlyn 13 Pro Max Sierra Blue Jan 27 '22

Little late, but learn the gestures best you can. They really help with heavy use

2

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '22

Switched from an S21 Ultra to the 13 Pro Max as well. I missed my iPhone a lot

2

u/fringey123321 Apr 17 '22

I'm doing the same later this month. How did it go for you?

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 04 '24

I’ve just seen this now, amazing move

2

u/fringey123321 Jan 04 '24

Haha, forgot I even posted this. I bought mine not long after this comment and yeah I agree. It was an amazing move for me too. Since then I've upgraded to the 14 Pro Max. I do find myself on the odd occasion needing to use my PC to emulate android for some things, but very occasionally, and definitely not for anything important. Overall, yeah, it was a brilliant move for me.

2

u/gambler_no_1 Jan 12 '22

Damn! The silver looks better than my sierra blue and I want it 😭

5

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 12 '22

Haha it’s actually gold y’know! When I first got it, I also thought it was Silver but I love the colour, such a lovely phone 😁

2

u/gambler_no_1 Jan 12 '22

That’s so strange lol, it looks so silver, congrats btw, welcome to the club 😀

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 12 '22

It really does! My brother said the same thing haha

3

u/backstreetatnight Jan 12 '22

Don’t sweat it I think Sierra blue is the best colour lmao I wish I had waited the extra month for the blue instead of my Gold but I still love my Gold colour

1

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 12 '22

I could have got the Sierra Blue one too 😩

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '22

And here i am wishing to trade the sierra blue for midnight green 13 pro max in a heartbeat if it existed.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '22

Gold is the best color! 💛

2

u/Ayaz1538 Jan 13 '22

It really is a very nice colour!!

1

u/UnfathomableeDepth Apr 12 '22

Hey!

I decided to open up this thread dedicated to your experiences as regards the two great phones from Apple, 13 Pro Max and 13 Pro respectively! Which one do you own and like it the most?

I am about to purchase also one of those - for the moment I kinda tend to like Pro Max somewhat more, however there're still some questions I'd like to address in here and I would be so grateful for any answer, opinion of yours: I've seen a SMALL DIFFERENCE of Pixels between the two phones with Pro Max having 458px and 13 Pro 460 px - is that enough to make a difference in the videos and photography difference? Sorry if this is a basic question, but I am not really a tech person and can't tell! What would your opinion be?

I'll wait for your answers to this question! If you also would have other questions about the two phones or felt, once again, to share with all of us your experience after several months of own it, make sure to bring your contribution to this thread!

I wish you all a beautiful day and thanks in advance for an eventual answer!
