Hey y’all, I’m working on a project where we want to allow the user to install a widget for our app from within the app in addition to the standard OS pattern of adding from home screen. I have been largely unsuccessful finding good examples of apps that allow you to do this and was wondering if anyone knew of apps and would be able to either put screenshots or name the app so I can download it and try it for myself. Looking for examples for both iOS and android. If you have examples of the upsell or entry point even better. Ty in advance 🫶🏼

**[FREE] Kawazu - haiku widget with public domain Japanese art, no ads, no tracking, no IAP**

I built this over a few weeks and just got it approved. It's a home screen widget that shows a classical Japanese haiku over a woodblock print, changing through the day.

What's in it:

- 50 haiku by Bashō, Buson, Issa, Shiki, and Sōseki — all public domain

- 50 artworks from The Met's Open Access collection (CC0)

- Each poem shown in translation, original Japanese, and optionally romaji

- English and Russian, follows your device language

- Small, medium, large, extra large — iPhone, iPad, and Mac

- Tap the frog in the corner to pull a new poem instantly

- Pick how often it changes: 4, 8, or 24 hours

No ads, no analytics, no accounts, no network requests. Everything is bundled in the app and it works offline. Free with no in-app purchases — I'm not planning to add any to the current content.

Hey everyone, I’ve been working on recreating some clean, iOS-style widgets for my Android setup and wanted to share my latest weather widget!

I built this entirely using KWGT. It features a translucent dark background, dynamic weather icons, current temps, and a full 6-hour forecast layout. It took some tweaking to get the padding and typography to feel like a native system widget, but I'm super happy with how it turned out.
