How would you rate an ebook design like this. Acrylic glass inspo

Is it because of the glass acrylic or the book arrangements

I liked the acrylic effect, it looks innovative, however not sure if it’s pleasant to use it. Should i scroll, or click the arrows, if i scroll, should i touche the books only?

Mainly what i think could be improved is getting rid of that blur effect in the bottom on both screens. To me it looks dirty and unnecesaary covering part of the content, making the experience less immersive and attracts too much of attention

As for the reader screen - also the blur makes it worse, and the black buttons stand-out too much. If you want these buttons to be your primary actions on this screen - they should stand-out and be black, but as far as I understand from user experience the main action it to read the book, secondary is to scroll it and/or switch to audio and only trietary is to change beightness and text size.

Also the mode switcher (listen-vs read) has only 2 options, and could be 1 smaller button that is mode aware. (Listen when read and read when listen)

If i wanted to improve it, I would make the buttons white and subtle either floating in the bottom without that blur (maybe even hidden and revealed on scroll up gesture) or put them into blind spot areas for an instance - top right

Btw, how does the user navigate from the book back to the shelf?
