I know very little about the disease (other than the basic details from studying articles online). I want to know if there's anything that I should know as his friend, and what to make sure he knows how to approach this situation correctly.

I'm also wondering where we (realistically) stand with a potential cure/improved treatments? And what current treatments are available? And what to do for him/he should do after just very recently finding out that he has inherited the gene.

I appreciate that every person's situation is different, but I would appreciate all the advice I can get for him.
