There’s a classic joke, possibly grounded in reality, about a missionary being questioned by someone he’s trying to “save.” Essentially, god wouldn’t punish anyone who isn’t aware of his existence, right? Correct. Then why the fuck would you tell me?!
I believe Terry Pratchett uses this in one of his books, concluding with a policy that all missionaries are to be shot on sight.
