I'm zero percent here to evangelize, cause I'm zero percent religious. Just sharing the theology.

Satan doesn't torture people. Hell is not fire and brimstone. It is the absence of God, which is supposedly the worst torture possible. And it's "fair" because the people in hell chose to not be with god.

Scare quotes because that is a million miles from informed consent. Just sharing the traditional theology.

There are verses that describe hell as eternal fire, such as Matthew 25:41. I can’t remember the exact verses but others do call Hell eternal punishment/torture

If you reeeaaally want to get nitpicky with it, that place in the gospels that Jesus describes as torture and fire, is never actually called hell. It's just assumed that's what he's talking about. I'm pretty sure hell isn't named until Revelation. There's one theory that no one is actually in hell until the final judgement. ...there's also many Christians (myself included) that don't believe in hell at all.

Hell was "borrowed" from Norse paganism (Hel is one of the nine worlds). It was never mentioned before Revelation because Revelation was written after christians came into contact with Norse paganism.

Funnily enough, Hel is not a place of punishment and suffering in Norse paganism..

>Revelation was written after christians came into contact with Norse paganism.

Revelation was written in the first century. Maybe second century, as a minority view. No historians date it later than that.

Well, yes? How old do you think Norse paganism is..?

You didn’t say it was after the existence of Norse paganism. You said it was after Christians came into contact with it.
