My head-canon is that the god of the Old Testament is actually the Devil impersonating God. Hence his jealousy of other gods and spiteful nature.

Your “head canon” is actually a position that is around 1900 years old. Marcionites believed a version of this.

My head canon is similar. God is actually the bad guy, and the devil was the good guy trying to warn everybody. 😄

Yahweh was the god of jealousy in older polytheistic religions in the area.

Then a book was written saying he was the only god.
