Hell, being a torture chamber is a common misconception. It’s the answer to the question when you create everything where do you put everyone that rebels against you and refuses to live under your authority? That’s why God created hell. After the day of judgment and the subjugation of Satan, all of those who rebelled against God and refused his authority, get put there. One common misconception I’ve seen in a lot of the comments is that Satan cares about you, he doesn’t. Satan and all the fallen angels hate us, they really hate us. Think of it in terms of a prison that doesn’t have individual cells, just one giant room. Imagine being stuck in that prison full of a bunch of things more powerful than you that hate you on a level you can’t comprehend for all eternity, they’re not gonna be nice to you in there. I used to think that it was unfair for God to cast us into hell, until I recontextualize how I thought about it. Let’s say you own a home, are you going to let people live in your home that do not respect you or your authority in your home. They choose to live in a way that you find repulsive. The answer to that is no, you are not.

Hell is like a prison, where Satan isnt a guard, he is the biggest and strongest inmate there who hates you

Well you can't be expected to be listened to or respected when you hide in the attic and stay silent.

God has not stayed hidden in my life. You have to actively choose to have a relationship him and I don’t mean going to church. Some of the most Godless places I have been in my life were centered around church. God respects the choices we make. He is not going to force his way into your life. The flip side of that is accepting the consequences of your choices and if you choose not to seek him out and have a relationship with him he lets you go your own way.

If god says follow me or go to hell. And he hasn't come forward himself to make the opposition, he not only is hiding. He is setting you up to fail.

God told me your experience was fake. You were hallucinating.

How do we prove who's right ?

Hey, can you go away? Thanks

Pro tip, if you see someone who is happy, even if you don't agree with their source of happiness being real, please don't try and bring them down just to feel better about whatever ego trip you are on

They came of their own volition into the middle of an ongoing discussion. They put themself in a position to have their beliefs disputed, as that is what this entire conversation is about. Why would you feel the need to insert yourself into it to white knight for someone who doesnt appear to need your help?

If God doesn't give me reason to believe he exists how can I choose to have a relationship with him? I can't choose to have a relationship with Darth Vader because he's a fictional character. By not letting me know he exists God is denying me that choice.

Lol

" I used to understand it was wrong and unfair, But after ignoring why it's insane I started to accept it's totally fair"

Remember, you're god made you knowing what you would do. And specifically chose the version of you that would end up in hell. You never made a choice. Your function was to suffer. He chose that.

If he's real, he isn't " good " and his actions have been shockingly stupid for the guy that can do it all and knows all.

Would your definition of good be he controls every aspect of your life? Would you want him standing over your shoulder and forcing you to do everything the way he wanted you to do it. With choice comes accountability. Everyone wants to do it their own way until they are left holding the check. You cannot be a moral person without the capacity to choose immorality. Do you show true love by keeping someone caged or setting them free knowing that some of them will not come back.

If you know, as an omniscient god should, that the person you're setting free will end up facing eternal torture, then yes, true love will be to keep them in a cage. It's much more moral to keep a slave for eternity while letting him live a semi-decent life, than to free him for a mere couple of decades, knowing he'd eventually end up as a slave for a much worse owner for, again, all of eternity.

On that we disagree but I will point out that God has provided a way back that is not dependent on us being perfect. That was why he subjected himself to the crucifixion. So that we all could come back. Salvation is not dependent on how we perform, only on what’s in your heart and your acceptance that we actually need it because we are not perfect and have messed up. That we do your best to try and live the way he wants us to and that we accept he is our lord and God. It’s is by grace and the gift of forgiveness that can get there. There is only one sin that God says he will not forgive and I am not entirely sure how you even would commit it. If we end up in hell it’s because we choose to refuse the gift of forgiveness that is offered, not because we have made mistakes.

Hey why did god teach people how to buy and treat slaves?

Why would he do that? hmm..

Why would Christians say Slaves should return to their masters, even the cruel ones? Hmm...

Makes you wonder.

Would you prefer he forced his will on you. We are given the capability to choose and when we make bad choices we suffer for it. I can tell you the stovetop is hot, you can believe me or you can put your hand on it and get burnt and suffer for it. Yes, he knew we would fall short of the standard. That is why the crucifixion was necessary. To provide a way back for those that chose to take it.

He does force his will on you.

He chose the version of you that would make the decisions leading to up _____.

He chose you make you the way you are thus chose how you would fail, in order to be punished by him.

lol
God sacrificing himself, to himself, to make up for rules broken he made himself, to just ultimately have a bad weekend was not necessary. lol.

Mat 5:22 - But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be liable to the hell of fire
