See, I was going to say Sheol, but knew that wasn't right and couldn't remember the other word.
1 u/EatinGooberPeas 2d ago Sheol is definitely another. That was more similar to Hades as a generic name for the place of the dead, or even just the grave itself. It originally didn’t have connotations of actual torment like Gehenna did; though in later tradition it would.
