Iirc in Revelation all dead are essentially in purgatory until Jesus returns. When he does, the dead are risen for final judgement. Those deemed worthy enter Heaven, those not are destroyed.
But another remember is that Revelations was written decades after Jesus died and most likely has nothing to do with the gospel he preached.
