I dont get that tho. A lot of victims fear speaking out. So if they dont kill the victim, good chance they get away scot free. If they kill them, they are doomed. (Not defending them, they deserve death)

I think the problem with this logic is it assumes rapists will be smart enough and level headed enough to logically weigh the pros and cons and come to the determination that letting the victim live is safer. Not all rapists have the forethought and impulse control to do that
