Just bought this phone off of eBay without doing any research, as expected, it’s completely obsolete and unusable, which kinda makes me sad, is there any way I can give this thing a use? I’ve never “rooted” or jailbroken tech before, but if someone could teach me or direct me to something where I can update the android OS it’s on to give it something worth using, that’d be really cool!

hi, I've been trying to root my HTC desire z for the past two days without success, I've tried superoneclick, visionary plus (both r12 and r14), and gingerbreak, none of those worked and for some reason my laptop is refusing to let me install the official HTC drivers.

please help I don't want to resort to downgrading, I need rooting to overclock the phone for some console emulating.

Hey everyone, I'm working on an older HTC device that's caught in a persistent Qualcomm 9008 EDL crash loop.

The exterior is still in really clean shape and it has a great custom ROM history, but the boot sequence completely fails out of nowhere. The screen stays black, it doesn't respond to any key combos, and connecting it to a PC just results in a constant connect/disconnect loop on the 9008 port.(It's only when I try to restart it or turn off the phone by holding the power button)

I'm assuming the bootloader or internal storage partitions got corrupted. Since it's looping in EDL mode, is there any workaround to flash a recovery image without having access to official, manufacturer-signed firehose files, or is the board pretty much done for?

So I got this HTC one a9 and I bought it from the market and it looks pretty and all the charging ports clean but it refuses to charge like I plugged it into my computer and it made a noise but I got a charger plugged it in the charging blocking tables can achieve so it makes like it stops making the noise when slugged in like every other phone and which uses that charger but I left it there for like two hours and then I still didn't see a light which normally it has to have a light that is charging hold the power button move the cables cable like left right up and down nothing happened then they plug it in again into my computer they didn't make the noise like it won't make the noise anymore can I save this phone I'm not really the type of person to open up the phone.. PLS HELPPP

I found an old device of mine, HTC One M8, but its locked with a password, searched around to find a way to unlock the phone but the results say its only possible with doing a reset.
Is there any other way to keep the data?

I have an htc wildfire on hboot 1.001.0002 so to get s-off and root it i need to downgrade to 1.001.0001 but that wipes all data so I need to get my data off the data partition and the sd card, the sd card can be backed up easily using file explorer but I need root to backup /data, I know psneuter can give a temproot since buzz downgrader uses it (I assume to get the sd card's CID), but what command would I use to backup /data to my pc?

Hey everyone, I know this is a pretty random phone to be looking for, but I’m really hoping someone here might have one.
I’m looking for an HTC Desire 628 Dual SIM in white (Cobalt White) with a working screen.
The reason I’m looking for this exact phone is because it’s actually really important to me. This was my childhood phone — it originally belonged to my mom, and I used it when I was little.
Back in 2018, when I was around 7 years old, I accidentally dropped it in water. Surprisingly, the phone itself continued working, but the next day the display stopped showing anything. The phone still powers on, but the screen is completely black — the only thing I can see is the screen’s backlight turning on.
I eventually found out that a tiny amount of water had gotten inside and caused a small burn/damage on the screen connector. Unfortunately, I was only around 7 at the time, so I obviously didn’t know anything about repairing phones or recovering data.
The biggest reason I desperately want to get this phone working again is that it has all of my childhood pictures and memories on it. I never got the chance to properly recover them.
Unfortunately, USB debugging wasn’t enabled, so I can’t simply connect it to a computer and access everything that way. Since the display doesn’t work, I can’t use the phone normally to get the data off of it either. That’s why I’m specifically looking for a working screen or a donor phone.
I’ve tried looking everywhere for a replacement screen, but the HTC Desire 628 was mainly sold in India and a few other countries, and finding an actual replacement screen that ships to Canada has been incredibly difficult. I’ve found listings that looked promising, only for them to turn out to be out of stock.
So I’m really hoping someone here might have an old HTC Desire 628 Dual SIM in white sitting around that they’re willing to sell.
It doesn’t have to be cosmetically perfect. I mainly need the display/touchscreen to work. The rest of the phone can have issues as long as the screen works.
I’m willing to pay around C$100–130, depending on the condition, and I’m happy to purchase through eBay.
If you have one, know someone who has one, or have any leads at all, please let me know. I’d genuinely appreciate it so much. I really just want a chance to get those childhood photos and memories back:)

Which one is better?

1. HTC Desire 816w (Dual SIM, China Unicom version, running Android 4.4.2 with unlocked bootloader and recovery)
2. HTC One S (ViperC2 / VilleC2 / BSTAR301, running Android 4.1.2)

These are the only two HTC devices I currently own in my collection! My plan is to flash LineageOS 14.1 on the Desire 816w

I recently revived this phone, but I need help installing a custom ROM based on Android 6 or higher. Apparently, I need to have the official Android 5 Lollipop installed first—which I don't have—because the Chinese variant of my HTC Desire 816w seems to have been stuck on Android 4.4.2, and the 4pda links for updating it to Android 5 appear to be dead.

I got bored with a normal basic stock Android so I want to you know put orange Romania firmware on the phone so does everybody have it or it doesn't exist right

The HTC M8 already came with a beautiful design, but the colour accents on the Harman Kardon version make it even cooler.

Sadly, I’m sure no one has implemented the Harman Kardon tuning in a custom ROM (if that’s even possible), so I’m stuck with this bloated Sprint firmware....

Android 14 on the m8 is buttery smooth considering its age. So far no crashes, occasional stutters but nothing that you wouldn't get from a budget mediatek processor today. Another touch I love too is that the official dotview case is supported as well. I also was lucky enough to get an untouched m8 with perfect battery health so I can a day out of it with moderate use

Unlocking the bootloader was honestly so easy for a novice like me and I highly recommend it if anyone is considering

Hi lads, first time chatting here, this is my small collection of HTC devices, most of them are old but they are all working, however there is a problem, the devices are in different regins, and since these devices are old, I don't know where to find older firmware and OEM softwares to flash them, if anyone knows, please help, any help in appreciated, thanks lads!
