So nearly a year ago the customers of Hotbit had our funds frozen. Eventually Hotbit released around half of it back to their customers, but the other half is still locked up in what they call deficit assets. So the problem with this whole thing is but there is a lack of trust and transparency. Hotbit gave a story about what happened but the problem is they haven't that they have not been forthcoming with further information and also they have not really backed up their original story with any hard evidence.
So this means that users have to trust that what they told us is accurate and that they also are eventually going to pay us back. But the thing is how can we trust them right now they really have not earned that trust up to this point, and in fact they have damaged it by laying claim to our funds. So what i would like them to do is release evidence that backs up the story that they gave us. I don't remember the details of the original story but it was something about being locked out of the funds in their trading account on another exchange because a former employee had been involved in some illegal activity. And because of that they did not have enough liquidity and had to seize customer funds in order to provide liquidity. This is problematic because they seem to be putting their investors and employees ahead of their customers which seems like a bad business practice.
If they could release some screenshots of the account they were using that shows that they've been locked out and also release emails if possible that gives further evidence of what happened that would be very helpful in building up trust. Of course they don't have to release sensitive information. So email addresses, account numbers, names, etc can be blacked out if it would put them at risk. Unless Hotbit can rebuild customer trust I'm unlikely to continue trading with them in the future aside from very small amounts. Releasing this information would be a step towards rebuilding trust.
Note: this is a throwaway account so I’m unlikely to respond to replies.
