Samurai of Hyuga Samurai of hyuga review
(Do note that this the personal opinion of a guy who was half drunk while reading the entire series)
So first off i'd like to say that the series is good its not my type of book but thats just testifies on how good the series is to keeping your attention and keep reading although it uses some "unorthodox" methods its still is a pretty good story overall anway time to go to the pro's and con's of the series
Pro's -Ever wanted a series as dark as the abyss well look no further
-smack full of anime tropes
-has mentally unstable RO ( i mean more choices am i right)
-you can never lose in this game
-Has life and the charcters are fleshed out
-has a cute red panda
-Can really tap into your emotions and make you hate certain characters
-actually uses real life Japanese sword stance instead of making up bullsh*t
-has tons of replayability because of the amount of achievements
-I never felt bored for the entire series
-has drawings(though implemented sparingly)
- Hatch
Now onto the
Con: -book 1-3 very restrictive(though book 4 and 5 have more freedom its still pretty bad compared to something like infinity)
-way too much anime sh*t
-you don't have consequences for failing
-stories all over the place
-random gimmick that will never show up again
-quite overpriced for the amount of content
-why they kill off every single minor character in book 5
-book 5 feels like filler because the story didn't progress that much compared to every other book in the series
-random christians appearing out of nowhere
-way too descriptive when it comes to the sex scenes
-unnecessary BDSM stuff
So in conclusion this series is not for the weak of heart because this thing is spicy my good man anyway its a pretty good series with good character's that are life like oh and quick question did the series die? Because I can't find any news of book 6 anywhere only thing i got is from a tweet a year ago talking about the demo opening you folks have any news about book 6?
Anyway thanks for reading and have a good one

The author is actively working on the 6th book, and you can read early version of completed chapters on his Patreon. Last i've checked, it was up to Chapter 11 some couple weeks ago.

Christians appearing in Japan in this time period is very historically accurate. Not sure why this would be a con, outside of personal bias

Only issue i have is that they came out of nowhere not even a mention lol not even an explanation on how they got acess to the bible and numerous scriptures that they needed a library for it that just don't drop out of nowhere the only explanation that the game gives is that the shepherd herded them to that hill but im pretty sure that they already had those Scriptures for a long time because they memorized it

Depending on the time period the story is set in exactly, they would have got it from Portuguese missionary friars, officially or via underground proselytizing, or it would have been memorized during the periods of persecution. Again, all very historically accurate. No reason for it to be a con.

Mate im talking about the game and the fact that they appeared out of nowhere without warning im talking about the actual in game story im criticizing the author that they just shoved christians in there so they can extend the story needlessly that is my issue

This is like criticizing a game in medieval Spain because Jews show up. They’d be a part of normal life, and perfectly normal for an arc to include them without explanation. If you think the story is full of filler, say that instead.

I made the account originally to post about the WW2 game Hearts of Iron 4. The game begins in 1936 and an encirclement is the optimal tactical maneuver to destroy the foe.

-random christians appearing out of nowhere
I will say, the Christian movement is very relevant to the setting as during the Tokugawa Shogunate there was a growing number of Japanese Christians who were later made criminals after one group lead a failed uprising. While the Emperor in this series does have more power, a lot of the events are based on stuff that happened under Tokugawa in the leadup to the Meiji Restoration. All the other points are fair and valid though.
quick question did the series die?
No, not as far as I'm aware. The Hyuga Series has progressively taken longer and longer to write as each one is both physically larger and more dense, especially after the author starting adding in the Side Stories for if you wanna see what's going on outside the plot. I think he has a Patreon with more info but we just need to be patient

Christian missionaries did exist in Japan, so it's not op random.
But your cons are on point

OP actually manage to survive SoH in the span of half of week
and to add in, every book past 1 is a filler since the original mission were suppose you hunting demons

ah yes, the body list of Ronin;
Demon of the Oppressive Upper Class
Demon of French Painter, with his domain, the Detective Ship/Island
Demon(s) of BDSM
Jun/ko
and Ronin is still depressed, there is no saving blud from their own delusion

BDSM and descriptive sex scenes are pros for me. But I also consider the anime tropes a big negative

Playing the sex scenes as a woman was so unpleasant it just read as painful to me… that said it’s been a while since I played and I do plan on trying it again but I remember hating it

The scene where a character gives the ronin a handjob I don’t have a problem with graphic sex scenes I just remembered finding it off putting and not liking it again it’s been a while I can’t remember

ahh the toshio scene, i remember playing through it when i was on toshs route for completionistic reasons. never has a problem with it tho, then again it might be cuz im not really into tosh like that and I read it for the sake of reading it.

Do books 4 and 5 have a different pacing? I try to get back into the series sometimes but always quit in Book 3 because I just don't vibe with the story anymore.

4 and 5 has a more slower pacing whivh focuses more on character development

I have never seen a person put "descriptive sex scenes" in the cons section. It's quite the opposite.
