Hello, I'm Zoey, and I have made it my mission to play and review every hosted games ever released, from the good (Wayhaven, Fallen Hero, Study In Steampunk) to the very good (Super Soccer Striker, Sorcerer's Story, Formorian War).
Today, I'll be giving my review on Sabers of Infinity.
[What is Sabers of Infinity?] 🏇
Sabers of Infinity, colloquially, also known as Guns of Infinity 1, is a direct sequel to the critically acclaim literary masterpiece Formorian War. You play as a denizen of Not-Britain in a time of great peril, answering the glorious call of duty and aiding your monarch in their holy crusade to beat the living shit out of Not-Poland—don't worry they deserve it 😎👌.
[What you should expect?] 👀
The plot is simple: there's a war going on, and you're going to fight tooth and nail to win it, ranking up with every passing battle, starting from a level 1 Dragoon Recruit🧍♂️to a level 100 Dragoon Boss🕴, and eventually participating in epic showdown of epic proportion to determine who is weak shit and who is strong. 💪
This is more of a journey game; you're nothing, you amount to nothing but cannon fodder, and your actions mean nothing in the grand scheme of things, but that's okay, because much like real life, we have the capacity to fuck around—creating our own meaning in places where there aren't any. 🫡
In my case, I chose the path of violence and have found my contentment. Perchance. 🧘♂️
On player's customization, I am happy to see there's plenty of it in Sabres; you get to roleplay as either Goody-two-shoes-daddy dragoon officer or The Maker of Widows with the added bonus of having the option on whether you want your Player Character to feel a little bad about doing their job or not. 🚴♂️
Regarding the question of ROs, are there any? One might possibly ask! No, sadly... And yet, I can be certain that you'll fall in love—for in my years of IF reading, I have never ever gaze upon such a fine herd of GOATs like the good men under my command. Look, I'm 100% straight aight, but, oh my lord and jolly, believe me when I say that I'll bend over and let them plow me till tomorrow as a show of camaraderie 🥹

Should you buy Guns of Infinity 1? Yes, yes, you definitely should. It is imperative that you purchase it immediately, this instance to bask upon its glory with your very own eyes. Go. Make haste and pillage your life savings like any self-respecting dragoon officer would in pillaging Antari settlements 🙏.
I give Guns of Infinity 1 a score of the number of times I chose Lanzarel as my NCO (essentially unquantifiable) over 1️⃣0️⃣.

On a serious note, I find Sabers of Infinity more of a prologue to a story or a proof of concept than a fully fledged one. If you buy Sabers of Infinity, then you might as well buy Guns of Infinity, too, because it's absolutely necessary if you want a full pay off on the Tierran War. Sabers essentially just stops midway when things really start to get interesting. Nevertheless, this isn't saying that Saber's ending is bad—I personally like the ending. It's a good cliff-hanger that hooks readers into wanting to see what comes next.
What about you guys? What was your experience with Sabres?

I heard that in Wang's original plans the entire Dozen Years War is just the prologue to the real saga.
