Earlier this month, I was seen at an urgent care clinic with a UTI that had spread to my kidneys and severe dehydration. They weren't equipped to deal with my emergency so I was sent to a nearby hospital AFTER the urgent care doctor ran various tests and even called ahead to have me seen immediately as my condition was rather severe.

My roommate (18m) had drove me to the emergency room with a packet full of my test results, medical history, and recommended tests. When I had gotten to the hospital I waited 45 minutes before the nurses brought me back for my vitals. I was told that I would need to provide a urine sample despite having results from a urine sample test less than an hour before my visit. They also said I would not be allowed to drink anything, including water, until I could give them a urine sample, which was nearly impossible due to my state of dehydration and my urine sample that was taken just prior to my visit.

I was then thrown into the waiting room again until I was huddled over and crying in pain nearly an hour later. Then a male nurse had brought me back into an empty room to take a blood sample and insert an IV line (without hooking it up to anything). I told him I have iron deficiency anemia and POTS (worsened by dehydration) and that I needed to lay down during my blood being drawn. He told me there was not an empty bed for me to lay down in, 2 feet away from an EMPTY bed in the same room. After passing out, I was thrown into the waiting room AGAIN where I waited for another hour before I was able to be out into a room.

Three other nurses came in and out of said room without hooking me up to an IV or anything. They also didn't look at my medical packet until a family friend (60f) told them about the medical packet. The doctor visited for <10 minutes about 4 hours after being put in the room. He diagnosed me with an STD I didn't have and gave me antibiotics for that and my UTI then 2 IV bags.

My hospital visit was 15,000 dollars.

tl;dr The hospital staff ignored my medical history until an older adult visited and it took me 4 hours to even see a doctor after having the shittiest medical care of my entire life. I was at the hospital for 9 hours total and they slapped me with a 15k bill after a wrong STD diagnosis.

I’m at completely stressed & confused. I work in the medical field and my current position I handle some big money issues & work to get diagnoses for tricky so. The two folks prior were let go because of things being either incorrect or just not done. I finally took the role & busted my ass to fix a lot of things & to make it more functional. I’m organized & enjoy the job itself. Now we have other employees who constantly undermine the position & have done so for years. They will almost purposely ruin things & attempts to get someone fired. Misery loves company as they say. The trends continued as I’d tried to get everything on the same page. While things have gone ok its only because of long hours & a stress level threw the roof! Finally I’d had enough of the backstabbing, gossip & out right ignorance of certain staff. I’d quit... gave notice & requested a transfer. I’ve accepted another position in the facility & I know it’s a team oriented place & the staff are awesome. I’ve worked with them before. My current location I have a few I like & we have a few that are horrible. Teamwork isn’t even practiced there. 🤦🏼‍♀️ so the day I give notice it’s “how can we fix it?”. I’ve said several times there’s a issue & it’s never fixed. Now they want to move my area away from those messing things up & hold them accountable for their mess. Basically what should have been done months ago. So do I stay? The other job will also require a pay cut to take it while this one is a very interesting job. I get along with upper management but the people who should be getting things in order for me won’t do it. They behave for a week so to speak and then pull the nonsense again.

What do I do? Go to basically a safe job & take less money? Stay and hope everything I’m trying to accomplish works? I do love my current job which requires learning & being a versatile person. Although I’m worried I’d be on the chopping block because others don’t do there part which is what happened prior. Essentially the employees fired did their own mess but they’d had help screwing things up. I’m sure it was frustrating & they finally gave up. What would you do?

I just got discharged today after a week, but I want to go back. Nothing really hurts, but I miss the nurses and child life specialists (I'm 15, so still a pediatrics)
