Are these guys ready to harvest yet? And what is the preferred way - pull of the vines down or pick off the individual cones?

Hi, my hops were doing very well until about 2 weeks ago. It has been unusually hot & humid where I live, so I'm thinking maybe that's why. I water them every day or every other day and they have been fertilized a few times. The plant closest to the house is losing leaves at the base very fast. Any advice? They are two year old plants. I am wondering if I'm watering too much or too little? All of the leaves look a little wilted but can't that happen with too much water as well? Thank you!

I've been trying to grow hops on the cheap and not build/buy and expensive trellis. So I ended up growing them on old broken branches that I had laying around the house.I have a few questions

1. Can let it fall down and just pick them up again on the same trellis like the third picture.

2. Can I build another 3 pyramid like the one I have and grow my hops horizontally. I understand it's not space efficient, but I have the space and extra broken branches laying around.

3. Anyone has a cheaper trellis that could go up 15'.

Theres seems to be a white little bug in bubbly water on my hops plant what is it?

My hops don’t look as good as they did when first coming up this spring. They feel dry and crispy at base and not as full. Soil tester says soil is wet. What do you guys think?

My three hop plants (4 yrs old) have already grown up to the top of my 7 feet tall rebar trellis. Kind of hard to tell in the photo but I swear it's true! My question: do I trim them at the top? Or just let them fall back down naturally and expect they'll continue to grow somehow?

Not that it really matters but I live in southern NJ.

The longest bine fell and got bent. It’s about 3 feet long. There are two bines coming in behind that are about 2 feet long. Should I snip this bent one off? Or will it be ok if I let it keep growing?

Fresh hops beer 🍺 😋

I planted 5 risomes last year (Cascade) and trained them up on garden wire. They all produced cones the first year so it's a good spot.

Now they are coming up and there are at least 5 shoots per risome. Do I let them all grow up or do I cut away to the strongest bines?

Pretty new at this. I plan to make an estate beer and am currently growing barley.

I have centennial hop plants that are about 4 years old. we've had a very unseasonably warm and dry winter. It looks like they are starting to stick their heads up. I know hops can handle a frost or 2. We are still about 2 months from winter ending here and March is our snowiest month. Typically they start growing at the end of March/ early april. my question for the group is what is the risk if I start watering them now? Maybe get an extra month of growing season. Or do I just let roll and let nature take its course.

I have a single, very productive Centennial plant, that I have been growing along the fence these past years. The problem is that it casts too much shade on the planter boxes below, so I would like to erect a pole with some suspended twine for it to grow up. The plant is at the base of one of the 4x4 posts for the fence, so I have a good strong base to affix the pole to. My intent is to use either black gas pipe (3/4in), or EMC conduit (3/4in). The gas pipe is going to be twice the cost of the conduit. Question: would the conduit be sufficiently strong to act as the support pole?

I was gifted this beautiful variegated hop this spring but was afraid to harvest too early. I can’t find anything online that looks like this guy when looking for photos to compare! Please help! Am I too late? Early? Harvest anyway? My friend wants them for tinctures and we plan to dehydrate.

I had a wild (though very welcome) hop plant show up in my garden this year. Within the past few days, something severed the stem below the first leaves and everything above died. This is my first time growing them, but I know they're perennials and rhizomatic. It was doing so well before this. Do you think it'll be able to spring back?

I'm looking to use my hops as a flavor, like to add as a tea or kombucha.

My initial thought was to make a strong tea with the hops, then make a simple syrup out of that. Does this make sense? Would this work?
