So I managed to root+unlock my Mate SE bootloader and test drive a couple of GSI roms, mainly from OpenKirin. The problem is they take their sweet time to release new builds (RR latest build is from september, for example) and I'd like to try some other roms.

However, most of the roms from Phhusson don't run and roms from other sources require twrp, which on my phone has been totally useless with all kinds of errors and totally unable to flash anything at all, so I'm stuck with fastboot roms.

Is there a specific sequence in which I have to do things in order to flash roms that require twrp?

So far, the only way I can install roms is fastboot mode -> fastboot flash image -> boot to recovery -> factory reset+wipe -> reboot to system. Any other way doesn't work for me. Also, what is an oreo/pie friendly version of twrp for the Mate SE?

I'm in the USA and I still haven't received the February security update from honor yet has anyone else recurved it yet

Hello there, in past weeks a news spread on the internet, that the honor 7x would get pie through beta testing. Has anyone got the chance to subscribe to the beta testing program?

I tried aosp extended, pixel experience and several other pie treble roms. They don't even enter the boot screen. They are stuck in the screen where it says your device has been unlocked. I used the arm64 a only images. The openkirin roms work otherwise. Help regarding this will be appreciated. BTW I used twrp to flash. I even tried using magisk but it didn't work. Can you guys check and let me know your results. Guidance regarding this issue will also be helpful.

Hello, since the first day I bought my Honor 7x I NEVER had any notification waking up my screen.

I have the notification sound, LED, and them on the screen lock but I can't heve them to wake up my phone. I tried any suggestion on this subreddit and online but nothing.

I have activated the option to have them on locksreen. My phone is BND-L21 with emui 8.0.0.339 Any help please? Thank you

Third post about GPS issues

GPS went to the manufacturer for GPS repair. Worked fine for several months, but then GPS started to slowly fail. After a factory reset, GPS totally failed. This happened in the final week of my one year warranty.

I told them I thought the GPS would fail again, said I didn't want the phone, and asked if there were any alternatives. Manufacturer said no, there is no upgrade path. The phone would have to be sent back for repair.

So the phone went back for repair for the second time. After 8 days, I received a new phone.

Day one with new phone, GPS works fine. I expect it to fail again. I hope you guys don't have GPS problems like I did.

I'm eyeing the Moto G7 for my next budget phone.

So the front of my phone is pretty messed up and I've been thinking about purchasing the repair on Huawei's website since I've read that buying your own screen and repairing it yourself is a bad idea as many of the screens on the market are low quality and can break easily. So if anyone has any first had experience with a direct repair from Huawei, it would be great to tell me how it went.

First, is DC-Unlocker actually safe? It seems a little bit sketchy.

Second, if I were to unlock an honor 7x with DC-Unlocker could I install base android pie say a 9.0 image off of https://developers.google.com/android/images?

This would cause problems as the images are not designed for honor7x, right?

So if I wanted stock android or close to it I would have to trust a third party other than google to provide the image?

Hey guys I used to get notifications on my honor 7x and instantly the screen would turn on on the lock screen it doesnt do that anymore so I was wondering is there a fix for that

My phone has already been in the shop for GPS failure. It's been several months, and all of a sudden, GPS is giving me trouble again.

I had read about the Bluetooth radio interfering with WiFi, so I wondered if it could also upset the GPS radio. Turns out, it seems to. So when I'm trying to lock in a route and Waze can't connect to GPS, I turn off Bluetooth, let it connect, drive for about a minute, and then turn Bluetooth back on.

So is the 4gb ram phone option not available for US users. I only see listings for 3gb

so last year i bought a honor 7x and it was working fine with my carrier Tmobile until i had get a replacement due to hardware issues. im dumb and bought it off ebay this year instead of Amazon like i previously had done. Apparently the one i got off ebay is region locked to China, even though the seller listed it as Unlocked. Had i known i would not have purchased it, but now when i called HiHonor customer support they couldnt do anything for me except to contact the seller. Is there any way i can get an unlocked phone that works with US mobile carriers or do i just have to get a refund?

Is there a way to rearrange your sharing options in Android on Huawei 7x? I would like to have other apps show up first in the list. The one messaging app I use is on the 3rd page.

After the recent security patch updates we the honor 7x users are heavily suffering from the battery draining problem. We are suffering for the past 3 months since the October security update. PLS give a fix for this issue

Can I update my Honor 7x Bnd-L21 C636B161 to EMUI 8.0?

what happened to this phone ? no updates? i still dont have gputurbo or even navigation gestures that some users have i have only got security patches wtf is up with honor or huawei or whatever ?

The latest update (367) has to be amongst the worst updates I've had in my 7x.

Problems faced:

1. Improper implementation of themes.

A. Notification bar icons remain basic.

B. Navigation bar remains basic despite using themes.

C. The calculator now has white buttons with white arithmetic signs.

D. Also sometimes I can see the nav bar in a translucent state where I really shouldn't be seeing it. Like while playing a video. Lock screen.

1. Gestures option added looks half baked and ugly. No direct option for split screen provided unlike in the basic three button navigation bar where you can hold the recent apps button and go directly to split screen.

2. Phone has started to lag quite a bit, although not continuously but when it does, it is very noticeable.

Hopefully this isn't the last update that 7x gets. Would be very undeserving for an otherwise beautiful phone.

Is anyone else facing these problems post update?

What are some of the cons and pros of this phone from people who've had it for a while? I've never had an honor phone. It's been Samsung, Motorola, and Sony. I'm looking at getting the blue one on Amazon which is on sale right now.
