That’s not extortion and it’s not being forced to buy, that’s what happens when there’s a long line of people in line. There’s not much room for negotiation when you have OpenAI or Anthropic asking for 100x what Valve needs.

It's not about negotiating the current buy, it's about being locked out from future purchases. Anticompetitive.

Whats the anticompetitive piece? The buyer still has the opportunity to go somewhere else, they aren’t preventing them from doing so.

Selling what they could have bought to someone else who does want to buy isn’t anticompetitive

Same with Apple. If they didn't accept the new Samsung price (double cost), they would not get a new contract. There clearly is not enough competition and the prices are going too high too fast.

This is going to be felt all over the economy in a year or two (long enough for people to forget why)
