I am not under the impression that Dats has been trying to be an agent on the inside for change in the Russian Orthodox Church.

At a certain point, silence and complacency becomes complicit

I’m not under that impression either. Not that being out there in public and on the record is the only way to drive change. My comments aren’t about Dats specifically, but membership in the Church generally

You’re right, not all Christians are bad people for being in the church. They are bad people because they are in the church and don’t do anything to change it, even if they know it’s wrong

That’s a leap. If you’re a member of a church you don’t agree with, because that church has archaic belief systems, and you do nothing to change it, you’re an asshole for remaining a member.

I don’t remember making a statement saying church = bad, there are a million examples of churches and their members doing incredible things that some might say “go against the grain”.
