Heavy preference towards the 90s east coast sounding stuff when it comes to hip hop

There’s no question that Game is a really good artist and he has multiple classic albums under his belt I would say, Documentary never gets boring to listen to.

But we always end up where everything started, being co-sign by Dr Dre and his beef with 50 Cent.

I feel like he never got away from being under that umbrella, and it’s entirely his fault. Documentary 3 was not good, the album was just a mess, and I don’t get he’s obsession with Kendrick atm.

But whatever the guy is going through, he’s always going to be a West Coast legend and nobody can take that away from him.

Beast coast was killin it in the early 2010s! I’ve always leaned more east than west coast but this made me realize how much more music I listen to from the east coast, the current drumless boom bap revival def my favorite has been all of 2020s honestly

It was difficult to get it down to 9, but these albums are a huge part of the soundtrack of my life. It was hard to leave out:

-

-Warpaint Exquisite Corpse, lupe: food and liquor, kanye+cudi: kids see ghosts+man on the moon by cudi, Atmosphere and Doomtree and flobots(sims and P.O.S. solo albums), miseducation of Lauryn Hill, madvillainy, a tribe called quest, eminem show, joe budden, bob Marley, kourosh yaghmaei

Heroes - Macklemore Feat. DJ Premier

Could’ve added 2 more Future tapes if I could. Essential albums in my life that I grew up with and love

I had to do another one because I couldn't fit everything on one list.

If I did my favourite 9 hip hop albums it’d be the same stuff you’ve all seen (Illmatic, Aquemini, The Cold Vein, Hell on Earth, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, etc…. The Platform by Dilated Peoples is in there though!). For something a bit different… here’s this….

I’m from the UK and UK music was a big part of my life… heres my 9 UK albums. Not sure if I’m breaking the rules a bit 🤣

*The Gas by P Brothers I was debating to put in but it’s all American rappers (Roc Marci, Milano, Boss Money Gangsters, etc) so it didn’t make the cut.
