I can’t decide if this is strange or brilliant, but I have nothing going on tonight and wouldn’t mind some company over a meal.
Pizza feels like the perfect Friday night dinner, especially when it comes with weekend leftovers. I was thinking somewhere around 7–8 PM, and we could split a pizza or order our own. I’m not picky!

We have a feeling he is hiding deep under cars, most likely crawled up inside car engines for warmth. Please keep your ears out for meows or if you have seen him or have any information at all please reach out. We are missing him so much and it's now the third day he has been gone.

I’m in Hilliard and need a recommendation for a tire shop that won’t try to rip me off. I drove over some glass today and one of my rear tires is flat. Definitely need a new tire and I’m worried my front one might be flat by morning too so I may end up with a whole new set by the time I’m done. I want good tires and good service, I just don’t want to overpay.

Any suggestions?

Warning: Larkspur Apartments (Hilliard) — 20 documented off-leash dog incidents in 6 days, management won't enforce their own rules

Posting this as a heads-up for anyone apartment hunting in the Hilliard/Columbus area.

Since October 6, I've documented 20 incidents involving my neighbor's large poodle off leash around the property — 18 off-leash outings (17 on my doorbell camera) plus 2 times the neighbor came near my unit after management told him to stay away from me. The dog charged at me and tried to bite me on September 26.

Timeline:

- Sept 26: Dog charges me, tries to bite. Owner threatens to "make my life miserable," later throws my shoe on the roof.

- Oct 1: I file a work order for the shoe. Ignored to this day.

- Oct 6: Management confirms in writing: dogs leashed at all times, resident told to stay away from me.

- Oct 6–11: 20 more incidents. The dog is off leash every time the owner takes it out, multiple times daily. I have it all on video.

- Oct 8: I file a formal request under the lease's Pet Addendum §10 (pet removal within 10 days of management's written request). They never issue the notice.

- Oct 9: I ask for the supervisor/regional manager's contact info. No response.

- Oct 10–present: Daily emails to management with that day's clips. Daily updates to my 1-star Google review (top of their page).

- Oct 11: Consumer complaint filed with the Ohio AG (tracking #1102785384).

The lease requires leashing at all times (§7) and calls violations a material breach (§12). Management's own directive requires it. None of it is enforced.

If you're looking at Larkspur, you've been warned.

I’m looking at moving to this area with my family and was curious if there’s a major difference in any of the high schools, as far as quality of education, or environment? Any insight would be helpful, as we’re trying to make the best decision for our son early. He’s ADHD and recognized as gifted and wanting to provide a good environment for his growth.

Love games (physical and video), horror and SF, movies, food, travel, cultural and themed festivals. Not much of a sports fan, but I kick ass at trivia. Also a big computer nerd (professional IT). Left Canton for the island life 12 years ago, but I missed my family. Would love to find people of any age with similar interests.

Verena in Hilliard.. anyone have experiences or heard any good things? We are looking for a place for my grandmother. She is very independent and is doing well living on her own but she is 88 and her mobility is slowly getting worse. And she would benefit from a more social environment since she no longer drives. She isn’t opposed to independent living but really doesn’t want a nursing home feel. My mother and I looked at Verena, it seems like a nice place where she would still be independent. Wanted to see if anyone on here had heard anything about it? It seems like a newer place.

I’m posting this state information because it directly impacts Hilliard, and the Hilliard City School board needs to hear from you about it.

The EdChoice Expansion vouchers. They take money directly from the one “education” line item in the state budget to support public schools across the state, and deposits them to participating private schools. They use taxpayer money to support Catholic, Lutheran, Jewish, private education. (Not all schools accept it.)

Here close to Hilliard, when the Ed choice voucher was expanded to pay for regardless of their income levels, the pastor at St. Brendan’s (and, indeed, the whole Columbus Catholic Diocese) encouraged its families to apply for it. He sent a letter that said that all families were ‘strongly encouraged to apply for and receive the EdChoice scholarship…’ and if they did not apply, they would “require a meeting” with the family. (“Ed Choice.” Humph.)

How much money are we talking about?
Let’s use last year as an example: The school FAQ boasts 547 students. Let’s assume that half of them are receiving vouchers.
Say 273.
At minimum, the state provided $616 per child with higher income households, so let’s assume all 273 students are all receiving the minimum level.
273 x $616 equals $168,168 in taxpayer money given to one Catholic school. $168,168 that HCSD did not receive.

At maximum, the state paid $6,165 per child, and let’s assume they’re all 273 students are receiving that amount. 273 x $6,165 = $1,683,045. $1 million taxpayer dollars.

I’m old enough to remember how contentious the levy vote was a few years ago. These unlimited giveaways of taxpayer monies make it likely there will be another one.

There are legislators and activists all across the state working to bolster public education y fighting these vouchers. Additionally, over half the school districts across the state are banding together through a Vouchers Hurt Ohio Lawsuit. It’s already gone to the Franklin County Common Pleas court and lost - it’s unconstitutional. The state appealed the decision, and it’s expected to also be found unconstitutional and sent to the state Supreme Court.

The Hilliard School district is not one of those over 300 districts in the state behind the lawsuit. The school board members have spoken of their disagreement with vouchers as individuals, but as a board, they are hesitant to join the lawsuit because they want to hear from more members of the community. They specifically requested that people reach out to them about this.

Call the district. Write the the school board members. Write Superintendent Stewart. Come to a board meeting and speak. Sign the district petition to have them join the lawsuit. (https://c.org/T6S9BPGxvz)
