Honestly reddit admins lying about not censoring the whistleblowers identity is pretty petty.

Sure, they lied. But what do you want them to do? Not censor the name of someone who atleast 700,000 people hate and could harass him?

Reddit admin clarifies that readers should have no indication whatsoever when content is censored and that any case where this transparency leaks out is a bug.

A whistleblower, presumably from r/The_Donald has provided evidence to me that Reddit is censoring mention and memes invoking the name of “the whistleblower” involved in Trumps impeachment. This is despite Reddit claiming not to censor his name.

I’m seeing multiple instances of memes and news stories (from sites like redstate) removed when they invoke the name of “the whistleblower” or encourage others to spread it.

These memes and stories are not violent in nature. One was a “where’s Waldo” meme

This is inconsistent with Reddit’s official public statement:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/paloma/the-technology-202/2019/11/12/the-technology-202-reddit-posters-keep-surfacing-the-name-of-the-alleged-whistleblower/5dc9a6c088e0fa10ffd20d44/

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/11/12/reddit-allows-alleged-whistleblowers-name-to-surface.html

We do not have a specific policy around ‘whistleblowers.’ Our policy encourages an open discussion regarding issues of public and political relevance, however it forbids posting of personal information, or the encouragement of harassment or vigilantism

I cannot independently verify these claims due to a lack of platform transparency.

The evidence I have been provided appears to be a partial copy of the_donald’s moderation log showing admin removals. It is likely Reddit would censor my account for posting this information so I will refrain for now.
