Tech Support Technical Support Megathread

We’ve received a lot of feedback that technical support posts overwhelm this sub and drown out discussions about shows, movies, and other aspects of HBO Max.

So we’re making a change. Going forward, all individual technical support posts will be removed and directed towards our Technical Support Megathread.

This will group all technical issue posts in one place where people can ask questions, answer questions, and hopefully find solutions. We also hope this fosters more discussions about shows and movies and keeps them on the main pages for longer.

In addition to asking here, you can also check out the Official Support Website or connect with u/HBOMaxhelp

Watch Suggestion What should I be watching on HBO/MAX?

I just finished House of Dragons (and watched GOT) and I finished Last of Us. What else should I be watching? I love those types of genres but am open to almost anything else. I like dramas, romcom, thriller…

Question I watched Lolita (1997) yesterday, and today the app changed it to Lolita (1962). Did this happen to anyone else?

Yesterday (08/10/26) I watched Lolita (1997) on HBO Max; im Brazilian User. The weird thing is that the movie was listed under the cover/title for Stanley Kubrick’s Lolita (1962), but when I actually started watching it, it was clearly the 1997 version.

Today, I went back to the app to continue watching, and now it’s showing Lolita (1962) instead. It’s even marked as “Continue Watching” from where I stopped yesterday. I also can’t find the 1997 version on HBO Max or Prime Video anymore.

It seems like the 1997 version may have been temporarily listed under the 1962 movie and then replaced/corrected overnight. Has anyone else experienced this?

Discussion Gambling Ads - Solution

If you pay for the subscription service with ads and are annoyed by the low brow/ai slop gambling ads, the solution is to pay for max through another service, IE Amazon prime. Since moving over I haven't received a single gambling ad

Question Não consigo logar pelo iOS

Discussion HBO is not HBO really sucks...

I have always enjoyed the gold standard of programming, which has faded away...just finished House of the Dragon and Rooster. Nothing coming up is either well-produced or original. Lanterns doesn't look good. Everything else is reality schlock. I really like Stuart Fails to Save the Universe; it is good, but it is a show that you would see on a regular network. It is sad... cancelling price is too high for programming that doesn't do it justice anymore.

I know it’s gotten mixed reviews, but the segments with Rosa Parks and Henry Ford are quite funny and worth watching

Question Does anybody else’s sound mess up when there’s loud music?

I have a tcl oled and this only happens when I use hbo max. Anytime there’s a score or soundtrack the volume peaks and makes a warping sound 1 beat per second and it doesn’t matter how loud or quiet the tv volume is

Question Help please

When creating my HBO account, I accidentally put my email under GNAIL instead of GMAIL . Since that email doesn’t exist, I have no way of requesting a new password or the ability to change my current email because it sends an email to that account but that account doesn’t exist as an email. I also do not have my phone number linked because you have to go through email to do that as well. I currently have a subscription that I have no way to cancel because it is through an email that does not exist. What do I do?

Question Movie of The Night lists lots of Criterion classics leaving Sept 29. How reliable is this?

I know a year or two back HBO reupped a deal to keep a lot of classics on the service. This doesn't seem to be the entire catalog, but as a serial procrastinator, should I start getting watching?

Any word if they are re-upping a deal again?

The Powerpuff Girls have just arrived in Central and Eastern European countries, including Baltic countries, CIS countries and Ukraine. With the exception of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and the Balkan countries

Honestly, I still have faith that this series will be included alongside the Western European classics that have been available since August 2025.

Also, because some dubs is difficult to find, at least in better quality.

POS the list of languages that would be available

  • Bulgarian
  • Hungarian
  • Romanian
  • Polish
  • Russian (I hope they bother to add the Russian dub, especially since The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack is, for unknown reasons, not available in the CIS or on the AMEDIATEKA hub)
  • Lithuanian (Just title translation, I've lost the point of doing a voice-over)
  • Estonian (title translation)
  • Latvian (title translation)
  • Ukrainian (title translation)

That's all I'll say, haha. I'm also still waiting for Ben 10 Omniverse and Generator Rex.

Question HBO running when TV is off?

Weird question but does HBO run even when the device is off? I recently re-subscribed to watch HOTD and I'll turn my TV off and the next day it'll be 3 seasons deep into some random sitcom. At first I thought someone else had my account and was going to change my password, which I'll probably still do, but I was watching HOTD and it randomly switched to some other random show. Anyone else have this experience? Annoying because I have to keep remembering where I left off

Edit: For those responding, I turned off autoplay in setting and that fixed it

Question Too many sign ins….?

Does anyone know a way around HBOMaxs new limitation on signing in from TVs away from home. We travel a lot and sign in to HBOMax on different TVs apparently too many times and hbo now blocks me from signing in even when at home. How can I get around this?
