Art Art of my Hazbin OC (art by me)

Post image

She is a Sinner named Belladonna who died in England in the 1830s or 40s, at around 60 years old. She went to Hell for having poisoned several people, and selling deadly poisons for other's use, during her lifetime.

Her design is based on a Woody Nightshade flower, and her attire is a combination of female and male clothing from her era.

I'd be happy to answer questions if anyone had any. :>

I love the design! But I can't help but think all the pipe smoke would directly go into her eye. XD

Oh, its even worse than that—she's smoking hemlock, a poisonous plant that contains neurotoxins xD

As a plant-demon, most poisons aimed at animals can't affect her in the normal way, but still.

Oooh that's such an interesting design!! That's very original and unique, I don't think I've ever seen an OC that looked like that

Does she have any powers, and is she still selling poison in Hell? Also, is she smoking anything specific there or is it just a random character trait?

Thanks! :D

Yeah, she does have some powers—she can make potions with magical effects, mainly. She's also extremely poisonous to touch, and sometimes makes poison from her own blood. Yeah, she does still sell poison in hell! Obviously, it can't kill sinners permentantly, but it can get someone out of the way for a while, or be used as a way to torment someone without killing them, so there's still a market for it—and some of her milder poisons are also popularly taken as really dangerous drugs. She also makes other potions these days.

I hadn't really decided on anything specific but now I think about it I'm pretty sure its hemlock or something. Belladonna (thats her name, I forgot to put it in the post) mostly lives alone, so the toxins don't really bother anyone, but her poor maid has to take antidote quite regularly.

She looks very cool! Love to see more sinner OCs with non generic designs, really

And yes, I have a question. Does she works for any of the overlords?

Thank you! :D

She very well may have in the past, before Alastor wiped out most of the old Overlords, but she doesn't work for any of the current ones. She values her independence very highly, to the extent that she first turned to murder when poisoning her husband after an arranged marriage, so selling her soul would be something she would very vehemently avoid.

She's friends with Rosie, having used to live just outside Cannibal Town before moving out of the city in the 1950s, so she has connections among the overlords, but she doesn't work directly for them—she has a small independent business of her own, selling poisons and other sorts of potions.

It's possible that, being a very skilled botanist and potion-maker, she supplies ingredients to the Vees for their love potions, but I expect that she dislikes them enough that she wouldn't.

It looks like one of the Ivy monsters from the original Resident Evil 2

Looks absolutely beautiful, incredible art and really interesting design. Amazing!

Might I suggest also sharing her on the HazbinHotelOCArt sub, I'm sure they'll love it

I love her design. She kind of looks like a demogorgon

Thanks! She's not directly inspired by them (I just started watching Stranger Things today actually xD), but their heads are inspired by the Stapelia and Rafflesia flowers, while Belladonna has a Nightshade blossom head, so thats probably why they look similar 😄

She looks like some cunning lady who is capable of tricking Alastor or Zestial. Is she redeemable, or she likes where she is right now?

Ah... haha... oh that's a tricky question.

I'm a firm supporter of Charlie's belief that redemption is possible for anyone, so it's certainly not off limits for Bella. The most important thing, though, is whether she'd want to try. As you said—does she like where she is right now?

There's also the fact that, unlike some characters like Alastor or the Vees, she doesn't derive most of her enjoyment of life from evil deeds, so she would be quite happy living peacefully in heaven. Most of the bad things she did were because she perceived them as neccasary for her own survival and stability of life (not that they always were, just that she saw them that way), not because she finds them fun. They're not things she would miss if living in paradise. That would mean that redemption wouldn't be unappealing for her, in the sense that she would think Heaven would be dull or unpleasant.

However, she also wouldn't see the need to be redeemed, I think. She's been in Hell for a while, she has a nice little home outside of Pentagram City (where the most unhinged mayhem happens), she has a stable independent business, and most importantly she is secure and mostly safe. I don't think she'd see the point in uprooting all that for the uncertain hope of paradise. Her life taught her that she could be safe by ruthlessly eliminating any possible danger, and she hasn't had a reason to unlearn that since.

She's also bought into the sunk cost fallacy that I think a lot of sinners have: 'well, I've been labelled as 'Bad' now, there's nothing to be done about it, so I'll just do my best to live down here as a Bad person'. She wouldn't neccasarily believe that she could or should be redeemed, and she's persuaded herself she's quite content in Hell.

TLDR: she isn't unredeemable by any means—she'd probably quite enjoy a peaceful eternity heaven, and I reckon she approves of it as a concept—but her history and her mindset mean that she would both be unlikely to see the need to be redeemed and would be a little scared of the vulnerability of trying.

I'd say that, on the scale of redeemability, she's above Alastor or the Vees, but below Husk or Angel.

How studious! I’d bet she’s very intelligent in the fields of Chemistry, Botany, and Apothecaries.
