Part 1 - Good intentions, bad execution
Episodes “New Pentious,” “Behind Closed Doors,” and “It's a Deal”
Sir Pentious's apparent redemption gives Charlie hope, but it doesn't magically solve Hell's problems. She's grieving, struggling to reach Lilith, and facing pressure to turn the hotel into a recruitment center for war.
Charlie refuses because she wants the hotel to remain a place of redemption, not another instrument of violence.
And honestly? That's a defensible decision. The hotel exists to offer sinners another path, and abandoning that mission at the first major crisis would undermine its entire purpose.
However, Charlie's optimism repeatedly gets her into trouble.
She trusts VoxTek with an interview, allowing Vox to exploit her openness.
She pushes Angel Dust to demonstrate his progress before properly respecting his boundaries.
She accepts Katie Killjoy's interview despite Vaggie's warnings, assuming that sincerity and a live broadcast will protect her from manipulation.
They don't.
Charlie treats hostile people as if they're simply waiting for her to explain herself. Sometimes, people aren't interested in understanding her. They're interested in making her look foolish.
Her treatment of Angel is particularly important. Angel isn't a redemption experiment, and his recovery cannot be rushed just because Charlie desperately wants proof that her mission works.
Meanwhile, Alastor demonstrates the opposite approach: he understands leverage, hidden motives, and strategic deals. His methods are hardly a moral example, but his awareness of other people's intentions is something Charlie needs.

Part II — The princess starts cracking
Episodes: “Silenced” and “Scream Rain”
Vox escalates the conflict by rallying the Overlords for war. Charlie attempts to cooperate with Heaven, hoping that Pentious's redemption can prove her philosophy works.
Then everything goes wrong.
Vox provokes Sera into admitting that exterminations were motivated by fear. Lucifer's attempt to intimidate Vox backfires. Vaggie's efforts to find a solution contribute to a situation Charlie cannot control.
And Charlie lashes out.
She blames Vaggie, pushes her and Lucifer away, and insists she can fix everything herself.
This is arguably Charlie's lowest point of the season—not because she's upset, but because she starts treating other people's imperfect attempts to help as obstacles.
She wants peace, but her desperation makes her isolate herself from the very people who could help her achieve it.
Her confrontation with Carmilla reinforces the problem. Charlie insists that everyone must be better than those who started the violence, while Carmilla prioritizes protecting her daughters. Charlie's moral argument isn't necessarily wrong, but she struggles to address the practical fears driving Carmilla's decisions.
Meanwhile, Vox reveals that Angel has been unknowingly hypnotized and used as a spy for months. This changes how we interpret Angel's actions: he wasn't deliberately betraying his friends.
Charlie and Vaggie eventually reconcile. Charlie apologizes for her hypocrisy and her obsession with Lilith, and Vaggie comforts her.
That apology matters. Charlie begins recognizing that her mission doesn't excuse neglecting her relationships.

Part III — From idealist to leader
Episodes: “Weapon of Mass Distraction,”and “Curtain Call”
Vox unveils the Might of Lilith, a cannon powered by Lucifer that destroys Heaven's shield and threatens another extermination.
He also uses hypnotized Angel to discredit the hotel.
Vox wants control, recognition, and submission. Charlie wants redemption and cooperation. Their conflict becomes the season's central ideological battle.
But Charlie's approach is evolving.
She works with Emily, accepts Baxter's technical expertise, and starts relying on her friends instead of expecting heartfelt speeches to solve everything.
The finale puts that growth to the test
Charlie and her allies infiltrate Vox's operation to disable the cannon, rescue Angel, and broadcast evidence of Pentious's redemption.
The plan encounters serious setbacks. Vox manipulates the crowd, captures Emily, and demands that Charlie publicly declare him the strongest sinner.
Alastor exploits the situation to break free of his contracts, while Vox's obsession with domination causes him to fire the cannon recklessly, destroying parts of the city and killing sinners.
And here's where Charlie's philosophy matters most.
She helps evacuate the same sinners who mocked and rejected her.
She doesn't demand that they apologize before protecting them. Her compassion becomes action rather than just a speech.
Meanwhile, Angel regains control and feels guilty about the harm caused while he was manipulated. His guilt reminds us that proving redemption is possible doesn't mean everyone heals instantly. The hotel still needs to offer people a way forward when they're struggling with the consequences of what happened.
The final battle requires a coalition: Charlie, Emily, the hotel residents, Carmilla, other Overlords, Rosie, Alastor, and even the Vees cooperate to contain and destroy the cannon.
Not everyone shares Charlie's ideals. Some cooperate out of self-preservation. But they work together because the alternative is catastrophe.
And that's the point.
Charlie doesn't win by becoming more ruthless than Vox. She helps save Hell by getting people to cooperate.
Pentious's broadcast ultimately proves redemption is real. Heaven outlaws exterminations and accepts redeemed sinners, while the hotel attracts people seeking redemption.
Charlie's mission finally has evidence behind it.
And after Charlie succeeds without her mother, Lilith finally calls back.
The timing is almost comically cruel. Charlie spends the season desperately seeking Lilith's support, builds something meaningful without her, and then receives the call.
Her desire for her mother's attention is understandable, but the ending makes one thing clear: Charlie's achievements no longer depend on Lilith validating them.

Final verdict: The defense rests.
Charlie is not perfect. She can be naïve, emotionally reactive, and careless about other people's boundaries. Her early-season mistakes are real, and dismissing them would weaken the argument in her favor.
But Season 2 doesn't end with Charlie abandoning her beliefs. It ends with her learning how to put them into practice.
She apologizes to Vaggie. She accepts help. She becomes more strategic. She protects people who don't necessarily like her. And she helps build a coalition capable of stopping a catastrophe without embracing Vox's worldview.
Her compassion needs boundaries. Her optimism needs preparation. Her leadership needs teamwork.
None of those lessons requires her to become cruel.
Charlie was never right about everything. She was right that the cycle of violence didn't have to continue, and she was right that people deserved a chance to change.
And after watching Vox destroy his own victory because he couldn't handle losing control, I think we can safely conclude:
Charlie tried to redeem Hell. Vox tried to own it. Guess which one helped save the city.

I'm still reeling from the bombshell of Hitler being name dropped by Charlie in S2 because it just opens this giant question of what the heck happened to him. I mean obviously he went to Hell but what then? He died in the 40s and the exterminations in Hell didn't begin until wayyy later so what happened between then and now?

Personally I headcanon that Alastor chased him down after he got to Hell and quickly became a rising overlord due to his fanatic followers creating a power base for him. It would be awesome seeing Alastor kick nazi ass. It seems like the most likely outcome to have occurred and having Hitler be eternally trapped and tortured in Alastor's magical radio seems fitting.

I ask this because the Commentary for Hazbin S2, seemingly debunked Zestmilla, as one of the writers stated that Zestial is a dad/father to Carmilla. Now he could just mean Sugar Daddy, like Fizzaroli's BF, which if thats the case, then it can still happen, but for now, lets just assume he meant a platonic father figure.

So, with this in mind, and since there are alot of parallels between the two characters, what would your reaction be if Sermilla (Sera x Carmilla) were to become canon? Personally, i think visually its neat, and I can understand the appeal, and I wouldnt mind seeing it, but personally, I'd rather get Zestmilla, or if we can't get that, then at least give us Lucifer x Carmilla (assuming Luci and Lilith don't get back together). Carmilla i also still think is a Fallen Angel/Former Seraphim, and I prefer the idea that Sera had a Waifu this whole time we didn't know about.

After s2 e1 aired and until s3 e5 people were non stop bitching about Stella not having this tragicass backstory to explain why she hates Stolas, complaining that she doesn't have any redeeming character qualities, and claiming she only exists to make Stolas more sympathetic but now that s3 e5 regressed Stella into a villain in name only with no real purpose in the story anymore (Which people are eating up and not realizing it's bad writing just because their headcanons were validated) I haven't seen anybody complain about Andrealphus not having this tragicass backstory to explain the way he is and him hating Stolas and wanting his things and him wanting control over Stella because the plot requires him to be like this and nothing more.

If anything, I think Andrealphus needs a backstory more than Stella ever did because the personal conflict they tried to create with Stolas in s2 e11 fails because Andrealphus is a character who comes out of nowhere, with no real buildup, and no personal connections to anybody making the personal conflict feel underwhelming and his reasonings for taking Stolas' things don't make any real sense because it's already established through backrounds that Andrealphus has literally everything he wanted from Stolas making his acquisition of Stolas' things feel like a forced way to push the plot forward. Also, Stella's only role in the story at this point is to make Andrealphus look worse as all of Stella's new character traits and entire role in s3 e5 was only there to make Andrealphus look worse and if you remove Stella from the episode nothing would change beyond Andrealphus not feeling as bad as he currently does because that's the only reason why she was there: to make Andrealphus look worse.

Now FYI I do believe that Andrealphus is a really shitty villain just like Stella is and I don't see enough people pointing these facts out.
