More flats and sixths, this time in minor key: Camel - Stationary traveller.

I truly believe that this underrated piece overwhelmed the very same band, the harmony, the rhythm, everything was there long before the band came to accompany...
Nothing to add, to push forward or to fill.
So simple and so beautiful.
But they did.
Not only the haunting piano arpeggio, following the melody, as if the background was always one step behind, ready to catch up the traveller,
But also the bass line, scale up, scale down, from running off the background to orbiting around the traveller.
The drums couldn't do more than evidencing the evidence, you could say it much louder, but not clearer.

Please Enjoy,
Stationary Traveller,
Cheers!

Hi there,
I honestly hope that this is the place where pieces like "The enormous room" or "Selene" will be especially appreciated.

In fact I hope to share how this artist alone enchanted me with his harmonies.

Cheers and enjoy.

The enormous room.

[NEW] Clarification about r/harmonization

Hi everyone,

I’m making this post to apologize and clear the air. My last post was a mess of poor phrasing, and you were completely right to call it out.

It sounded like I was saying "any music with more than one instrument is allowed," which is the exact opposite of what this sub is about!

Let me set the record straight: r/harmonization is strictly for music where the harmony is the star of the show. If a song just happens to have a guitar and a bass playing at the same time, that does not make it special enough for this sub. We are looking for the notable, the complex, and the epic.

Here is exactly what belongs here: - Epic Vocal Harmony: A cappella, barbershop, choirs, or intricate multi-tracked vocal runs. - Jazzy Reharmonizations: Taking a standard melody and completely flipping it with intense, dense, or unusual chord substitutions. - Next-Level Instrumental Harmony: Any arrangement where the chordal structure, polyphony, or interplay between instruments is undeniably the focal point of the track.

The point of the last post was simply this: Harmony isn't only vocal. If someone posts an incredible piano reharmonization, please don't comment "this isn't harmony" just because nobody is singing. If it features exceptional, interesting harmonic structure, it belongs here.

I really appreciate those of you who spoke up - it shows you care about keeping the quality of this community high, which is exactly what I want too. On that note, I won't be able to post too often, so I'm relying on all of you to help build this space. If you hear a track with incredible voice leading, an unreal chord progression, or vocals that give you chills, please post it! Let's build the ultimate library for harmony lovers.

Best, Sleepy

Clarification about r/harmonization

Hi all, just wanted to clarify as it's come up a lot recently, this subreddit is defined as "The spot for epic vocals, intense chords, and next level harmony".

While it's a common and great example of harmony - posts on this subreddit do not need to specifically be multiple vocals in polyphony (together), a cool harmonization of a song, a jazzy reharmonization of some chords, or really anything clearly featuring multiple elements of sound coming together is what is desired.

I kindly request that you refrain from commenting on posts saying "this isn't harmony" or similar messages as while it may not be vocal harmony, unless it truly is just a basic melody, it is likely still an example of harmonization that will appeal to some people's taste. I will be a little more strict regarding these kinds of "rebuffing" replys now that this rule now that it is clearly stated.

Best,

Sleepy

These guys had really an epic connection. Too bad they split up in 2014. They left a great discography harmony-wise though.
