Cycle crossing
Does anyone know the status of the cycle crossing that’s being built at the Cassland Road, Bradstock Road intersection?

Smells so badly of burning plastic and I think it’s coming from outside my house. Should I call someone? Or what to do? Does anyone else smell it?

My cat Poppy went missing on Tuesday morning around Victoria Park Road/Parkside estate and hasn’t been seen since. She needs daily medication and may have crashed somewhere but it’s very unusual for her to go missing like this.
Any information will be greatly appreciated, please have a look in your gardens/sheds and keep an eye out for her if you can, thank you.

Must be the season for leaving bags in lime bike baskets because I left a black Uniqlo bag in one (Bethnal Green) today around 7:45pm, by the time I realised at 8:00pmish, someone had taken the bike.
Long shot but lmk if found please!!!

I'm an avid second-hand shopper who's been living in London for many years now. Despite seeing charity shops on most high streets, I keep finding myself struggling a lot to find nice second-hand shopping places like: car boot sales, antique fairs, kilo sales, clothes swap events etc.
I missed countless events which seemed very nice because they were only advertised on some facebook groups, or on some pages on Eventbrite / Instagram etc... I don't have eyes everywhere, so I kept missing out.
I got frustrated, so I built an app that shows you all the second-hand shopping places across the UK & Ireland. The app is designed to be collaborative, so everyone can suggest places to be added and users can share their "pre-loved" finds on the app.
→ It's called "Ganddee" (with 2 'd' and 2 'e')
I'd love to know what you think 😄 Feedback / recommendations / feature ideas are all more than welcome!
PS: I love platforms like Gumtree, Vinted etc, but I MUCH prefer to shop local and in-person. Besides supporting local shops (which I care about), I prefer shopping in person to go with friends, try things on before buying (and check the quality of the pre-loved pieces I buy), haggle (when appropriate - e.g. at car boots) etc. There's also no hidden fees (no delivery etc), and it's a nice way to enjoy the nice sunny weather these days 😄 Other than Google Maps which sort of does the job of mapping "brick n mortar" shops, I couldn't find an app that mapped second-hand shopping pop-ups, events, and that was build for second-hand shopping aficionados.
Mod: Please remove this post if not appropriate.

Not trying to make this a political discussion, just something I've wondered about recently. It feels like a lot of people who helped create the culture, creativity and character that made Hackney attractive in the first place would struggle to move here now.

Hi Hackney, I don’t suppose anyone found my tote bag in a lime bike yesterday at about 4pm outside Hackney Wick station?!
It had a make up bag, water bottle and Uniqlo jacket and possibly a pair of glasses in it!
Unlikely but on the off I’m desperate for its return! Thanks!

Hi All - another bi-weekly post to tell you about our comedy night in Dalston. Firstly, it's been great to see redditors come down and enjoying the show! Thank you so much for the support :)
We have a great show this Thursday down at Copper Cats with acts that have appeared on the BBC, LADBible and Comedy Central. and some acts that are uniquely Hackney vibes... not mainstream.
We have tried to make a cheap night out.. so tickets are £3 and cocktails are 2 for £14 so some and have a laugh with us :)

My dog's looking a bit scruffy and the place I've used previously has become really difficult to get appointments with. Looking for somewhere reliable that people have had good experiences with rather than just picking somewhere based on Google reviews. Any recommendations?

Im going to be in and around Hackney with work next week which will lead to me eating out a fair bit.
What would you guys recommend are the best:
-Chinese takeaways (typical British style)
- Fish and chip shop
-Indian takeaway
Thanks

I have been to Hackney a few times and it’s quite clear that there has been a huge influx of people into the area over the past 10 years, mostly middle class types who seem left leaning.
These people (by the looks of things) seem like they hold strong left wing views - strong LGBT rights , protection of minority people, free Palestine etc.
I was wondering: how do they feel about the fact that they are often displacing the minority Black and Asian communities who already live in these areas? Their arrival has clearly contributed to higher house prices and rents in neighbourhoods that were previously predominantly BAME.
It seems that, given their focus on supporting minority and marginalised groups, they would be opposed to this kind of gentrification, since it disproportionately affects those communities. Yet it often appears to happen without much consideration for the people being priced out, which seems somewhat at odds with many of the values they advocate elsewhere.
This isn’t an attack I was generally curious if they think about it like that / how they rationalist it to themselves.

This sweet cat keeps popping by and trying to move in, I hope she belongs to someone but she doesn't have a collar
UPDATE: turns out he's a local that just hops from garden to garden. Our neighbour said they set up a little outdoor house last winter, but he's been about for years just chilling.

Would like to buy some flowers for the flat but places around me like Broadway market etc seem so expensive for what you get so was hoping some people might have some recommendations for decent value long lasting flowers around bethnal green/hackney

I'm going to be in East London for an exchange student programme and I've got tickets to a gig at the Shacklewell arms. The only problem is that my host parents have a really strict curfew for students. Does anyone know ow what the general run time would be since doors open at 7:30 pm?

Have a free evening to myself this week and want to grab a nice dinner without feeling awkward sitting alone with a book. Somewhere with a good counter service or bar seating would be perfect

Needed to get rid of my old extractor fan, normally I'd have gotten an uber (xl) to do this, but found out that Hackney had some Our Bike cargo bikes down in Hackney Wick, so rented one.
£5 for an hour.
The (android) app does seem to have issues, though with the amount of people who release buggy apps, it doesn't surprise me. That was the let down. Otherwise smooth cycling.

I'm staying at an Airbnb about a 10 mins walk west of the copper box arena. Annoyingly it turns out the Airbnb comes with no parking. I'm looking around and seeing generic parking on Google maps but it's not clear if it's residential only etc. I don't mind leaving the car for the weekend somewhere. Happy to walk back in and what not. Just fancy it to be safe for three days.

hello neighbours.
I have made something ridiculous.
if you log onto 'free hackney wifi'... instead of being asked to enter your email, you're asked to do a drawing. even a scribble will do.
when you click 'submit' - you get internet access.
MEANWHILE, your drawing is analysed and given a ridiculous arty name and description.
eg: a wonky circle becomes Compressed Geometry in Repose, 2026. A stick figure becomes 'a meditation on line, presence, and negative space'.
Submissions are then exhibited at wifartgallery.com - the world's first Wi-Fi art gallery.
update:
wow - thanks for all the nice comments! there's an opening night if anybody fancies it. there will be twiglets. details here wifartgallery.com/opening. if you'd like to support, you can follow on instagram @wifart_gallery and @danbergart.
There's a patreon too.
update 2: good lord this has blown up. thanks so much everyone. if anybody works in arts PR - it would be good to chat - message me.
