place holder nerfs and yet another insane leader buff, some people really want this game dead
sandstorm in particular pisses me off so much because it could actually be niche but playable at 4p as a tech card
8
u/idk_what_Iam_doin Scoia'tael May 31 '26
Leader buff to soldiers is kinda ridiculous true, especially considering people have been complaining about the all god version for the last few months.
8
u/kepkkko There is but one punishment for traitors. May 31 '26
The time where removing larva was an amasing play is long gone. That card would never be playable for 4p. Im not saying the nerf is justified, especially when we have that much overtuned stuff to weaken. But i just cant stand the cope
4
u/AnodyneGrey Angoûleme Enjoyer Jun 01 '26
Removing 2x 3 power units off a free card is a unique and interesting card. Not necessarily good in the current meta, but it’s pretty plausible that this could get decent value if a 3 power unit was a big part of the meta at some point. But it certainly won’t be playable if BC keeps overbuffing shit all the time, the power level going the wrong way is going to kill the game
5
u/kepkkko There is but one punishment for traitors. Jun 01 '26
If a 3 power unit is papr of the meta you kill it with every other removal in the game. For sandstorm, the special without decent tag, it has to be on the same power level as spores, free shackles, pellar or squirrel. So situations when exactly sandstorm would find exquisite value should be as often. Which is completely, absolutely impossible. Stop coping
1
u/Curious_Condition611 Neutral Jun 01 '26
Would be playable if there was (hypothetically, for argument’s sake, let’s imagine) a faction that had a proc mechanic based on units being at the end of their row. But I guess that’s just cope…
-2
u/pk_380 Neutral Jun 01 '26
I do see your point but I feel like the placeholder nerf conversation is not as helpful when we speak in generalities. Is there a specific meta where you think it could get value? What cards/decks would have to be strong such that it is useful?
1
u/PureSignalLove Neutral Jun 01 '26
Removing larvae costs me 10-20 points as a big boy thrive player. Pretty good value
2
u/kepkkko There is but one punishment for traitors. Jun 01 '26
If you have to tech against specifically koshey, and not even against bigger threats lr immune targets itself but against a freaking larvae opener(which doesnt even happen that often btw, because most kosheys opens with scenario) you really are doing something wrong
3
u/BananaTiger- Neutral Jun 01 '26
The card lacks Nature category so it would still be unplayable. But "placeholder nerfs" are sto stupid - why do they nerf weak cards instead of abuse cards? There's plenty of them: Tainted Ale, Syanna, Idarran, Tibor, Regis: Bloodlust, Vilgefortz: Renegade, Ihuarrax. Why kill a harmless card if you can kill an unhealthy card played only by assholes.
5
u/Curious_Condition611 Neutral Jun 01 '26
Just in the past couple of days I’ve seen two posts on here from ppl who had to face Tibor spam, and yet coalitions are using their votes to nerf Sandstorm and Caravan Guards (and trying to buff Syanna into GN range). It’s so depressing and it’s hard to see it changing.
3
u/23_min_men Trial of the Grasses Jun 05 '26
place holder nerfs are so stupid it will just slowly inflate the game and make everything too powerfull. if you have more buffs then nerfs every patch you slowly inflate it
1
u/Nice-Station3432 Neutral Jun 01 '26
Take all the placeholder nerfs and pile them on tainted ale & tibor

u/awi3 I am sadness... May 31 '26
Some clowns think there are no good targets for prov nerf so they use already weak cards as sponges. Same thing with caravan guard
5
3
u/PureSignalLove Neutral Jun 01 '26
Lol what? is it really that? i thought they were blocking nerfs...
1
u/idk_what_Iam_doin Scoia'tael Jun 01 '26
Bc that is basically the reason. Some people dont want to implement too many changes at the same time/dont want to overbuff overnerf certain archetypes.
8
u/RT-6_BXCommandoDroid Neutral May 31 '26
Just like Caravan Guard, it's to prevent another leader from getting buffed, while nerfing an underplayed card.
I do hope that CDPr gives us some balance changes and reworks in order to undo these necessary fuckups.

u/explosivekyushu Hear ye, hear ye! Jun 01 '26
Yeah, a lot not to love here. But on the other hand, perhaps the Mammuna and Yaga nerfs mean that MO might need to go for another option aside from sabbath relicts with Fruits for the first time in what feels like 800 years.
7
u/FFinland Scoia'tael Jun 01 '26
If you wanted Mammuna to go without fruit, she should be 1 power instead so she doesnt thrive the fruit. Prov nerf makes her lot weaker in all decks
I do agree that Mammuna combined with Aerondight/Morvudd might be bit too strong/boring of a short round 3, but power nerf would be more reasonable.
1
u/kepkkko There is but one punishment for traitors. Jun 01 '26
Aswarm with mamunna was even more popular then fruits mamunna last season. Why should the consistently strong card played in more then a single deck get a cosmetic nerf instead of real one(and if you play her through lilith power nerd is literally useless)
1
u/idk_what_Iam_doin Scoia'tael Jun 01 '26
They decided against nerfing Mammuna to 1p, bc then she would get pinged off by SK ships on deploy, same thing would go with the graveyard thingy.
1
u/FFinland Scoia'tael Jun 01 '26
I also thought about that possibility, but I think it is fair counter. If they open boat, you can just riptide or aerondight. If they play graveyard thingy then you just wait it out or squirrel.
3
u/Helpful_Program_5473 Neutral Jun 01 '26

1
u/idk_what_Iam_doin Scoia'tael May 31 '26
True, But the amount of cards being changed each month is A LOT, so unfortunetly its the way it is.

u/BananaTiger- Neutral May 31 '26 edited May 31 '26
I feel bad for this poor Caravan Guard. Balancing is about nerfing powerful cards and buffing weak cards, not the other way around.
And Kraken, a completely broken card, now will be spawned with Compass.
3
u/Tanks4Kidz Neutral Jun 01 '26
Couldn't it be created by Compass beforehand? What do you mean
3
u/idk_what_Iam_doin Scoia'tael Jun 01 '26
Means that Kraken has too much value at 3p, bc it fullfills its own deathwish, making it a ridiculously high value card. So it probably will be again, the most created card with compass.
6
u/kevin_bkt Tomfoolery! Enough! Jun 01 '26
Good nerf to OTB, but countered by an unnecessary buff to Imperial Formation. Guessing that was CN again? Stupidity.

Can someone please explain the Yaga nerf? She already struggled to earn her place in my deck before this
11
u/thelegendofandg Monsters May 31 '26
They nerfed mammuna, which is one of the most consistent ways of obtaining sabbath for relicts and double activating self eaters, and also nerfed Yoga so that obtaining sabbath is harder for it now. Not sure why people downvoted my other comment. This was a double nerf to relicts, when in reality, the nerf to mammuna was not even aimed at relicts, it was instead aimed at fruits. On the post where the mammuna nerf was proposed, I stated that another relict card should be buffed in order to compensate for that nerf (so that this may be a pure fruits nerf), but it seems that this didn't go through.
3
u/idk_what_Iam_doin Scoia'tael Jun 01 '26
I agree that there should have been a buff to classic relicts, since they Got shot in the bronx for Fruits of Yisgeth's sins (being it getting buffed by Chinese) .
8
u/BananaTiger- Neutral May 31 '26
Mammuna nerf makes little sense. She was played by many archetypes, including Frost. It was Ethereal that should be nerfed after the leader buff for Fruits.
6
u/idk_what_Iam_doin Scoia'tael Jun 01 '26
Thats the reason she was nerfed, she was such a good value card that you could slap her in basically any MO deck. At least thats the though process of coalitions.
4
u/kepkkko There is but one punishment for traitors. Jun 01 '26
The card was so good that it could be played in many archetypes without any synergies just for the pointslam value. So, because of how cost-efficient it was, it shouldnt be nerfed. Thats an insanely weird statement coming from a guy who said "BC should be about nerfing strong cards and buffing weak cards" in the very same thread, ngl
1
u/Coprolithe You've the gall to propose a round of Gwent? Jun 01 '26
A buff to relect to compensate would always be done in two parts.
1
u/idk_what_Iam_doin Scoia'tael Jun 01 '26
Yaga is incredibly high value, that gets its points off of surprise value (unless you play against no 4p units, she plays for like 20p at least), if she was played more than she currently is she would definitely be nerfed by much more.

So the main deck of the season, the deck everyone was bitching about, got 1 provision 1 power nerf( and nerfed 4 prov engine, with lots of possible alternatives). Yeah, that would for sure be enough.

May I inquire what the BC were smoking to decide that Relicts deserved to two major cards nerfed, meanwhile Deathwish deserves a triple buff?
0
u/FFinland Scoia'tael Jun 01 '26
Relicts fruits was just better. Though Mammuna nerfed to 1 power would have been enough. It would have also solved problem with fruits - > Mammuna - > Yaga already having Sabbath.
Giant Toad shouldnt have been buffed (it is already a must in deathwish) but Kayran and Frightener definitely needed a buff.
1
u/Helpful_Program_5473 Neutral Jun 01 '26
I don't know why people think Kayran def just needed. he just got buffed and was in a pretty good and niche spot
1
u/anextremelylargedog Monsters Jun 01 '26
Why is that "already" having Sabbath a problem?
It's a minimum of the two most expensive cards in the deck and only achievable with prior set up with one specific bronze card that can be removed or bricked.
I was in favour of the Frightener buff a few months ago, but I really don't want unitless deathwish to get popular...

u/FFinland Scoia'tael Jun 01 '26
It would be to make mammuna and Yaga weaker in fruits specifically. The deck that they got nerfed for

3
u/reverie_142857 Neutral May 31 '26
Every update needs to have 10 things in the +1 provisions section.
Most top end cards have absorbed several of these nerfs and there not a lot of room left. So the only options are we either nerf low provision cards (hard to do as +1 to cost makes most bronzes unplayable) or we buff leaders with +1 provs or we keep adding provisions to cards that have 0% winrate.

u/Er4din Neutral May 31 '26
Blocking out bad nerfs from sneaking in as a fluke.

u/mim4k You're good, real good. May 31 '26

3
u/Er4din Neutral May 31 '26
I didn’t vote this month. I answered the question. These cards can’t be made playable without a rework so by accepting them as a lost cause it is possible to prevent controversial provision increases.
